We are proud to share the following reflection from our member, Anna Campbell, and to celebrate her recent engagement with the international stage at the United Nations in New York. Anna’s contribution at the 70th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women is a remarkable achievement, and we are delighted to recognise and support her work.
A very special International Women’s Day at the UN Commission on the Status of Women 70th Session in New York.
As an NGO representative with ECOSOC accreditation we provided comment for the Agreed Conclusions on the theme of access to justice. I urged the negotiators to include climate, education, and sustainable action as a means for justice in the draft.
Thrilled this was added and passed this week. Now our role is to hold governments to account - peace and equal pay for equal value being top of the list.
In joining National Council of Women as a teenager I signed on to uphold Kate Shepherd’s legacy in gaining the women’s right to vote. It’s because of many fairy godmothers over the past decade I got to not only attend this occasion, but a seat at the table, and a voice.
Thanks for the support to travel for this moment Graduate Women Otago 💗
