From the remote islands of Pangai, Ha’apai, Tonga, Dr. Hausia has shown that geography should never stand in the way of life-saving hepatitis care.
Leading a house-to-house hepatitis B screening campaign in partnership with HepB Free and Global Health New Zealand, he helped screen more than 4,000 people, identify over 160 individuals living with hepatitis B, and connect them to ongoing care and treatment. His work has become a model for Tonga's national hepatitis elimination strategy and a blueprint for hepatitis B elimination across the Pacific.
