Today is a great day for Our Lady!
Last night (August 4), at midnight, the visionary, Marija, led the large crowd gathered in prayer on Podbrdo (Apparition Hill) to celebrate Our Lady’s birthday together.
Let’s recall that in the early days of August 1984, she revealed to the visionaries that she was born on August 5. She specified that on August 5, 1984, she would be 2,000 years old. It was an extraordinary and exceptional day in the history of Medjugorje! See my video on what happened on that special day:
We never fail to wish her "Happy Birthday, dear Mother!" on this day!
September 8th, the Feast of her Nativity, is a liturgical date in the Church.
Here are Marija's words on Podbrdo, before the white statue of Our Lady:
"Now let us pray for Our Lady's intentions; it's the best thing we can do for her tonight."
Then Marija invited everyone to pray "Seven Our Fathers, Hail Marys, and Glory Bes" (a traditional Franciscan prayer) for the Pope, for vocations, and for all those entrusted in our prayers.
After a few songs and hymns in honor of Our Lady, a profound silence settled over the hill, and many people continued to pray throughout the night.
Let us especially remember these words from Marija: "The most beautiful thing we can do for the Blessed Virgin Mary is to pray for her intentions."
So many times, she has urged us to pray earnestly for "all those who do not yet know the love of God"! She also expects us to offer fervent prayers for priests—all the shepherds of the Church whom God has chosen.
She also invites us to pray …
- For young people, who are facing very difficult situations in the world today.
- For the souls in Purgatory.
- For the family, putting God in the first place in our family, so as not to allow Satan to enter it.
- That we may live out these words of her Son: "Love one another..."
Etc.
Throughout the forty-five years of her apparitions, Our Lady has sought to teach and gather those she calls "the apostles of my love"—those who have decided to live out her messages and follow her on the path of holiness toward Heaven. There, she said, she awaits us and longs to embrace each of her children.
"My children, as my eyes are looking upon you, my soul seeks those souls with whom I desire to be ONE..." (September 2, 2012)
"Dear children, I am continuously among you because, with my infinite love, I desire to show you the door of Heaven. I desire to tell you how it opens: Through goodness, mercy, love and peace – through my Son..." (June 2, 2012)
