What a massive day for our members, who were absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible support for our Spin In!

Visitors travelled from near and far to come together, share their passion, and enjoy the company of other like-minded crafters. The wonderful variety of spinning wheels, countless knitting techniques, and the constant buzz of chatter kept the day interesting, lively, and stimulating for everyone.

A huge thank you to our wonderful traders for contributing to the success of the day. Your support was very much appreciated.

And finally, the last photo says it all — our President vacuuming up after the chatter and clatter had finally subsided! 🧶🧹

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make our Spin In such a memorable day. We look forward to seeing you all again!

This week the Craft Cottage had a special guest when our Mayor called in for a visit during our weekly Friday session. He was intrigued by the spinning of various wools on different spinning wheels. He willingly had a go at both spinning then knitting leaving with a gift of a pair of knitting needles, wool and handmade slippers. Thank you Scott Gilmore - Tararua District Mayor we hope to have you back someday

Our members were challenged to make trauma teddies for our local Police and Hato Hone St John to carry in their patrol vehicles and ambulances. Both organisations were very grateful to receive them and assured us that the teddies will be a great comfort to anyone they assist who needs something to hold close.

Recently, we’ve welcomed visitors to the cottage from both the USA and France. They had the opportunity to have a go at spinning and carding, and it’s been fabulous to see that these traditional crafts aren’t necessarily female-dominated. It’s wonderful to share these skills with visitors of all ages, backgrounds and genders.

If you’re visiting our town on a Friday between 10am and 12 noon, the kettle is always on and you can be assured of a warm welcome!

Come along and see what a Spin In is all about!

Our members have been working hard to host this year's Spin In. While it will be on a smaller scale than previous years due to our more compact venue, it promises to be a welcoming and enjoyable event.

Whether you're a spinner, a fibre enthusiast, or simply curious to see traditional spinning in action, we'd love to see you there!
