Its a family affair down at 171 High Street where we are activating our community to ENROL for election 2026.

In collaboration with Tararua Community Youth Services, We're hosting a Rangatahi Enrolment Event with plenty happening for the whole whānau!

🌊🤿 SPRING INTO SPRING – DAY FOUR! 🎣🔥

Another early start for the crew! 🌅🙌🏽

Up and moving by 7:00am, getting ready for another morning dive! 🤿🌊 Making the most of our last full day, we headed out to get amongst the moana before hauling in the fishing net! 🎣💪🏽

After a busy morning, it was back to the hall to clean all our diving gear, get everything sorted and enjoy a well-earned brunch! 🍳🥓

The crew then had some chill time to relax and recharge before getting stuck into the afternoon jobs.

🧹🧳 With tomorrow being our last day, it was time to start cleaning the hall and packing up our gear ready for the trip home!

Awesome seeing our rangatahi getting involved, working together and taking responsibility for looking after our gear and the place we’ve called home for the week! 💯👏🏽

🎬🍿 We ended the night with a movie, kicking back and relaxing after another massive day!

📸 Not many photos from us today! We were too busy getting amongst it, making memories and enjoying the moment! 😂

DAY 4 DONE AND DUSTED! ✅🔥

One more day to go! It’s been a mean week full of adventures, new experiences, teamwork and plenty of laughs! 🌊🤿🎣

Proud to be involved in this and highlighting the impacts of Youth Work 🙌

Whānau, we’re excited to be sharing something we, Hands for Impact, and many others have been working towards for a long time.

The Youth Work Impact Report brings together new evidence to show the difference youth work makes for young people, whānau and communities in Aotearoa.

Our sector have long known the difference youth work makes. Now we have another way to show it.

Dive into the research to discover what actually changes for young people as a result of youth work, how the researchers arrived at this value figure, and what the findings mean for the future of youth work in Aotearoa.

🌊🤿 SPRING INTO SPRING – DAY THREE! 🦞🎣

Early start for the crew today! 🌅 We were up and moving early to catch the 7:30am low tide at Aohanga.

We were lucky enough to get some good conditions for a dive, and the crew managed to come away with a few crayfish and some kina 🦞🤿🌊 — awesome experience getting out there and gathering some kai!

Next mission was checking our eel net, and we were stoked to find some BIG ones! 😮🔥 After that, we headed out to set the net for some fish before heading back for a well-earned brunch. 🍳🥓

Once everyone was fed, it was time for a clean-up, then back down to the beach for a swim and a kick around with the ball 🏊‍♂️⚽🌊.

We finished off with some rest and free time, dinner, then bed after another massive day.

Day 3 done ✅ Kai from the moana, plenty of laughs and another awesome day with the crew! 🙌🏽🌊

🌊🤿 SPRING INTO SPRING – DAY TWO! 🎣🔥

Another full-on day with the crew! 🙌🏽

We kicked things off by heading out to check and pull in the net, then it was straight into the wetsuits for a dive 🤿🌊.

After the dive we hit the beach for some hut building, with a little bit of fishing thrown in 🎣🏕️. Plenty of teamwork, laughs and competition to see what the crew could build!

Then it was back for lunch, followed by some well-earned rest and free time before dinner. 🍔😎

We finished the evening off with a bit of eeling 🔦, then everyone headed back for showers and bed after another massive day.

Day 2 complete ✅ Memories being made and plenty more to come! 🌊🔥

🌊🤿 SPRING INTO SPRING – DAY ONE! 🤿🌊

What a way to kick off the week! 🙌🏽

We arrived, got ourselves set up at the hall, unpacked all our gear and went over the house rules before heading straight into the afternoon’s activities.

🎣 First mission was setting the net, followed by a bit of fun jumping off the bridge 💦😂. We then headed out for a late dive, giving our rangatahi the chance to get suited up, get amongst the water and put some new skills into action. 🤿🌊

After a massive afternoon, it was back to the hall for showers and kai. The crew split into teams — one group took charge of cooking dinner while the other handled the clean-up. 🍳🧹💪🏽

Awesome to see everyone getting involved, working together and taking responsibility from day one.

Day 1 done and dusted! ✅ Bring on Day 2! 🔥🌊🎣

🌊 TE HAU O TE MOANA – KAI & KŌRERO 🌊

Are you a wahine aged 12–18 who would like to become more active and confident in and around the water, while learning the basics of diving?

Come along to our Kai & Kōrero evening to learn more about Te Hau o Te Moana—a welcoming, culturally grounded and safe programme for wahine.

🤍💆🏽‍♀️✨ BHB ACADEMY ✨💆🏽‍♀️🤍

Today we had a group of future hairdressers and beauty therapists head over to Palmerston North to the BHB Academy for a taste tester course, heres what we did today!! 🤗🤗

After some mechanical issues in the morning we finally arrived over to Palmerston North, (Not too late for the course luckily, thank you to the tutors for forgiving us! 🤞🏻) We got straight into some Hair Washing Techniques 💆🏽‍♀️ as well as some Blow Drying and Hair Straightening so we all got fresh blowouts!!

After swapping over so everyone could get a their hair done and learn all the important skills that goes into hairdressing it was already time for Lunch which was eaten very quickly before rushing back to the salon. 💇‍♀️ 💈

The afternoon was spent learn the basics of eyebrow tints (we were going to do eyelash tints as well but we ran out of time!) After everyone had fresh eyebrows, we learned the importance of placement when doing makeup on the test sheets. 💋💄

We finished the day with evaluations for the wonderful BHB Academy and being rewarded with gift bags for all the hard mahi done today, the concentration that was used for this course. 🧠🎁

After thanking the tutors we drove home to Dannevirke for drop offs after a huge but rewarding day!! ✨✨🤍🤍
