🌄 Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Raukūmara Pae Maunga as we transition from a successful Jobs for Nature programme into a long-term, iwi-led restoration organisation.

💪 Over the past six years, Raukūmara Pae Maunga has delivered one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest landscape-scale restoration programmes; protecting vast areas of native forest while creating skilled local employment and strengthening iwi capability.

💚 The results are thanks to our people, our partners, our communities and everyone who believed that Te Raukūmara deserved to thrive once again. 🌱

🌳 In this next phase, the Raukūmara Pae Maunga Trust is focused on ensuring the gains made continue to scale, which includes building enduring partnerships and growing people alongside the forest.

🌟 It’s about giving Te Raukūmara every opportunity to fully recover.

⬇️ Read the media release to learn more about the journey so far and the journey ahead, including new partnerships.

🌿 Ruahine Forest Park Deer Management 🌿

The health of our ngahere reflects the health of our whenua and our people. On the Ruahine maunga, growing deer populations are placing pressure on native plants and slowing the natural renewal of the forest.

Through a shared kaupapa, DOC, mana whenua, hunters, local communities and industry are working together to uphold the principles of kaitiakitanga and help the ngahere regain its strength.

By reducing the impact on the forest today, we help protect its taonga for those who will walk these paths tomorrow.

🌱 Mā tātou te ngahere e tiaki, kia toitū ai te whenua, te taiao, me ngā uri whakatipu. 🌱
