A great way to collaborate with other similar groups, some of which also have both rural and urban focus. Thanks OCC - Otago Catchment Community Inc for organising !

Last week OCC and NZ Landcare Trust brought together Otago’s Urban Catchment Groups for an online forum.

Via the magic of Microsoft Teams, leaders from five Urban Catchment Groups shared updates, followed by an OCC-facilitated workshop exploring what an Otago Urban Catchment Group Community of Practice could look like.

With great kōrero and knowledge-sharing, this is shaping up to be an annual event - a valuable way for groups to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another šŸ’›

Wonderful to have representatives from WAI Wānaka, Lowburn Catchment Group, Friends of Bullock Creek, and Aroha Kaikorai Valley joining for this inaugural hui.

Thankyou OCC - Otago Catchment Community Inc for supporting this event, and Darren Rewi for your inspiring and thought-provoking presentation which will hopefully lead to more conversations and connections through the community. Judging by the community response (50 people) it was a topic people wanted to explore.

On Tuesday evening OCC and Lowburn Catchment Group hosted Kaumātua Darren Rewi and locals of the Lowburn/Cromwell area for a community event in the Lowburn Hall...

Darren's lively korero included the history of Māori in the South Island, the reasons behind marae tikanga/protocols, and a history of placenames and seasonal hunting and gathering in Central Otago. Followed by kai and chats šŸ°

Tēnā rawa atu koe Darren, we will carry your words with us 🌱

We engaged Darren via Tāke Tuia. Through Tāke Tuia, Darren works to support Māori whānau and businesses and organisations looking to connect and engage with Māori https://taketuia.com/
