Stunning weather for weeding, removing older cages, adding new gravel, putting new cages on, and adding some bark mulch.

We also found insects enjoying the patch.

Our season for planting to date has had 1600 plants put in the ground via hard work and community volunteers. As the planting is done via the during the colder month's we wish to say a BIG thank you to all our supporters this year for your time and efforts.

Another project that has been very successful at our Stuart Ferry/Hoki Hoki Rerepai site, has been the area where the Central Wilding Conifers group felled wilding pines south of the carpark.

The area now has 750 new native plants in the ground with a team effort and joint project between Boffa Miskell, LINZ, and Matukituki Nursery. If you are out and about check out the new plantings all under the protection from rabbits. We look forward to the growth of these plants helping restore pockets of indigenous vegetation at this planting site.

A total of 2350 plants this season is a milestone achievement in the Mōkihi Reforesation's 10 year celebration year!

Trustee Greg Lind ,his wife Sue and daughter Gabby. Have partnered with Pinot Junction with their cinnamon scroll fundraiser.
Get on down to Pinot Junction in Old Cromwell, as for the month of September for every yummy cinnamon scroll sold, $2 will be donated to the Himalayan trust.

Follow Himalayan trust NZ for more information on their work or if you can’t get down for a scroll but would like to donate.

Trustee Gwylfa Moore penned an article on the Sophora Microphylla Kōwhai Tree that is found around Cromwell and Central Otago. The flowers are key early season nectar for some of our native birdlife including Tui and Bellbird.

A gorgeous morning of planting at the north end of Richards Beach today.

A big thank you to our local volunteers along with our two friends who came all the way from Outrum.

The team result saw 170 plants in the ground all with rabbit/wind cages and pins (for protection) all finished with gravel mulch.

We finished the session with baking, coffee and a social catch up.

Check out our new sign with interesting information when you are next riding or walking by. It looks great!!

Our next planting day is 5th of September at Stuart's Ferry/Hoki Hoki Rerepai Bannockburn. We would love to see you there.
