When The Wizard of Christchurch shattered his invisibility spell next to the food stalls at Riverside Market, he didn’t just reappear—he altered our city's literal physics. He has officially cast a decree out into the universe that Christchurch is the most important place in existence. Ordinary, boring life is now strictly prohibited!
Effective immediately, the new laws of Christchurch:

The Riverside Portal: Riverside Market is no longer just a food hall. It is now the official fueling station for the cosmic elite. Checking your phone while waiting for coffee is banned; you must now stare deeply into your barista's soul.

Mandatory Tram Etiquette: Commuting on the historic tram is now an extreme sport. Passengers are required to wave enthusiastically at onlookers, and absolutely everyone on the street has to wave back. No exceptions!

The Avon River Upgrade: Punting boats are being retrofitted with actual hyper-drive engines, and any local duck caught not looking sufficiently whimsical will be immediately questioned by wizarding authorities.

The Death of Serious Business: All spreadsheet usage in the C*D must include at least three emojis per row. Ties are replaced by cloaks, and all local business meetings must now officially conclude with a mandatory group victory dance.

Filming from Victoria Square in Christchurch—the historic meeting place where two worlds converged. Once a Māori trading hub along the Ōtākaro / Avon River, and later a colonial marketplace, this ground has witnessed the deep divisions of our past. But today, it stands as a symbol of healing.

This 38-second short is a message for New Zealand and the world: it is time to stop dwelling on what tore us apart. Look at the history beneath our feet, learn from it, and leave the division behind. We are one people, one global family, and one nation moving forward together as one tribe.

Filming from Victoria Square in Christchurch—a sacred piece of land where our global story truly begins. Long before it was a colonial market, this bank of the Avon River / Ōtākaro was Puari, a thriving Māori trading ground. When settlers arrived, this exact square became the literal meeting place where two entirely different worlds had to look each other in the eye, trade, and learn to coexist. It is a place of deep history, old divisions, and immense structural healing. Look around this green space: you see monuments of the past standing alongside the sacred Māori Poupou carving, reminding us of our foundational treaty. We are standing on the very ground that proves we can bridge the gaps of history. This 38-second video shows that New Zealand is ready to lead the world by example.
