The Christchurch Model Train Show 2026 is on this weekend!

We'll be at Cowles Stadium this Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October, and we'd love to see you there.

We'll have two layouts on display and there's a chance to get hands-on and have a go at running some trains. Come and have a chat with our members, who are happy to answer questions and share what they know.

The show also has plenty of trade tables, with new and second-hand items to look through. Whether you're after a missing wagon, a bit of scenery or want to get into the hobby, there should be something for you.

Our two layouts will be open for viewing this Sunday at Ferrymead Heritage Park. Swing by and say hello if you're at our end of the park!

It's also Ferrymead Alive day and the folks at Canterbury Railway Society will have their Vulcan Railcar running. Perfect if you fancy some 1:1 scale action to go with our slightly smaller trains!

Santa Fe 5038, an EMD SD40-2 originally built in 1977, wears the classic blue and yellow "Yellowbonnet" scheme and just left one of the tunnels on our 16.5 layout. It's one of the most popular locomotives and railroads in HO scale modelling, loved by hobbyists worldwide.
