Clan Fraser Society of New Zealand

Clan Fraser Society of New Zealand The New Zealand Society was formed in 1993 after the 1st Commissioner, Alistair Fraser had been visiting Australia & discovered the Australian Society.

Today the Clan Fraser is composed of many thousands all over the world. Large Fraser populations exist in the United States and Canada, and smaller populations are in Australia, New Zealand (both of which have had Fraser Prime Ministers) , and South Africa, not to mention those who never left Scotland. In 1951, the Lord Lovat Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser was able to muster some 7,000 Frasers to

the family seat at Beaufort Castle, and in 1997, some 30-40,000 Frasers from 21 different countries came to Castle Fraser over a period of four days for a world-wide Clan gathering.

And a Very Happy St Andrews Day to all who are connected in any way to Scotland,and/or are interested in involving themselves in this. Here in New Zealand we have a culture of strong,if sadly diminishing, following of Scots born,Scots descendants and admirers of the beauty and strength of the land of the Scots.
This is a day to maybe raise a glass and enjoy some haggis, neeps and tatties. Then sing Flower of Scotland. Here we start oor day way before the rest of the world so will be celebrating earlier but wish you all Lang may yer lum reek.Alba Gubrath.

Hello to all Clan Fraser ppl.My apologies to all for non contact. For quite some time this page has not been very well used as there is a decided lack of contact or interest here in NZ.I have had a series of illnesses which, along with my getting long in the tooth, have seen little or no correspondence with people. To all the new people who seem to be connecting I bid you welcome. Now to the point of this missive,is there anyone who wishes to assume responsibility for this page?As in keeping up some correspondence and sense of clanship for members? Please get back to me as there is no-one who seems to be bothered in NZ.The clan here is traditionally South Island based in Christchurch but finding someone to keep contact with is like trying to find a snowflake in the Sahara.I am a Waikato resident and would love to be involved with Fraserach here in North Island but we need to kick something off. Please get back to me if you are interested.Yours aye Steve
