Rotary Club of Papanui

Rotary Club of Papanui We meet at 5:30 for a 6:00pm start, every Thursday at the Papanui Club, 308 Sawyers Arms Road. We welcome all visitors.

We are a very active club proud of our achievements. We are family focused with a belief in service through friendship and encourage leadership from our younger members. Our projects are wide ranging but tend to support our local community whether hands-on with projects or sponsoring youth to Rotary leadership camps and much more. Our membership growth is strong and we focus on encouraging younger people to join.

Last Thursday we had Tania Gibson talk to us about the importance of sleep and how snoring and sleep apnea affects a large proportion of our population. She demonstrated a simple stick on mouth surround which can help to breathe through your nose while sleeping and gave us several exercises all involing some tongue rolling and poking out your tongue ( not to do in public) which caused some hilarity from us. It was an excellent presentation on ensuring our members wellbeing.
If you need help we encourage you to contact Tania. Her details are on the slide.

On Friday I walked around the Rotary Peace Park at Dallington Landing in the red zone with NZ Conservation Volunteeranager Hamish. We started at the Nursery, a project Papanui Rotary has invested money to help set up at the Climate change Campus then we walked around the pathways to view the native plants, 52,000 planted by the community and many NZ Volunteers over the last 4 years. Its growing nicely and will become a significant legacy for Christchurch

Yesterday a group Rotary Club of Papanui members gave up their day to attend Papanui High School. 250 senior students attended the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness seminar. Papanui Rotary has donated money to RYDA for several years to make sure young people can become safe drivers. Papanui Rotary is investing in our next generation. Thank you Liona and team from RYDA for running this excellent programme.

Yesterday 29 Papanui Rotarians and family enjoyed a Car Rally ending at The Raspberry Café. The day was perfect and warm and although some wrong turns were taken and a couple who drove towards to Arthur's Pass - we all ended up in the same place eventually!! Good fun and plenty of laughs along the way.
Thank you Angela and John for organising an interesting route.

📣 Keen to help turn our chaos into kindness?🫶

Since reopening, the generosity from our community has been incredible. Donations have been arriving in waves and we are so thankful for every single item shared with love.

Right now, our team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to sort, size, clean and check everything so it can head back out the door quickly to the next whānau. To keep things moving (and hopefully avoid pausing donations again so soon!), we could really use some extra hands.

If your New Year's Resolution is to give back a bit more this year, this is your moment. No long-term commitment needed – even a day or two makes a real difference.
Spend some time with us and you’ll be helping freshen up toys, sort clothing, clean and check equipment and prepare practical support for families. Every job helps to get items out to a baby who desperately needs them 💛

No special skills needed – we’ll guide you. Bring your energy, a willingness to pitch in and maybe your love of organising! 😉
We’ll bring the hot cuppas, tasty treats and a friendly team who love what they do.

If you’d like to be involved behind the scenes at PIPS, send us a message with your availability. We’d love to welcome you! 💛
