As part of their conservation badge our Kea Club went on a river walk down the South Library until the bridge just opposite Remuera Reserve. Each time we stopped the water was clear and there was w**d in the water. At the beginning the water ran swiftly and became more still the further we went. One of the parents saw a trout at the start. On the last stop we saw about 30 ducks, 5 eels and two parents saw a flounder. Sadly we saw a can and a cassette tape in there too. That was the only rubbish we saw.

The Keas are working towards their Environment Badge. This week we did a nature walk. The Keas caught a few small creatures. We tried to identify them as best we could and then set the free. There were centipedes, slater's, a huhu beetle, a fly, a preying mantis and a grub.
