Second social ride of the year done.
Not put off by the wet weather Brian Corbishley and I had a nice ride to Akaroa with some lovely lines displayed.
Not a lot out so was great on the hill.
Thanks see you 1st Sunday of the month for the next one 3 May 2026.

Saturdays meet and greet and the first social ride went well. Thanks to Bruce and Ross for coimg along as members, and Jeff Gibson and Row Gibson for support.
A short run from Little River over Debbie's Pass through Lyttelton. Then descent of Evans Pass to Sumner.
Some technical riding required due to traffic and road conditions.
Well done to all involved.

To all the Canterbury IAM members, I would like to extend a huge thank you for the support and confidence that you have in the organization and system.
I became National Secretary Wednesday last week after only joining and becoming a full member, earlier this year.
I am working hard to progress to an observer so that we can get traction here in our region with member assessment and progression.
In the interim I would like to start a regular social catch up and provide a personal opportunity to meet you all, listen to other's stories and hopefully provide help and support.
I would like to start with the second Saturday of each month being the social meet/ride. All welcome car and bike.
My thoughts are a rotational meeting venue with possible social ride after coffee.
First meeting then would be 8th March at 10:00 at Little River Café for a ride/ drive over Gabbie’s Pass through to Lyttleton and Sumner then home.
I look forward to meeting you all.

Best wishes

Martin Wilkinson
National Secretary

Our next IAM social meet will be at the MotoSocial meet up at Speights Alehouse Tower Junction on Tuesday 18 February between 6-8pm.

MotoSocial meets are hugely popular around the world and the Christchurch events have been no exception.

More detail to follow, but the meet up will go ahead rain or shine.

Good to see three riders join the Canterbury social ride yesterday, as well as the fourth who popped along to say Hello at the Pegasus start. The group made good progress to Oxford, albeit without riding through the Ashley Gorge as originally planned. We will save that one for another day!

The Potato and Chilli Soup at Cafe 51 was well worth the trip and meant that we avoided the few spots of rain!

Our next event will be another Coffee Catch Up, probably in Christchurch in a couple of weeks time. More on that at a later date. In the meantime, please get in touch if you have a favourite route you'd like to share on our next social ride at the end of the month.

Excellent weather forecast for our social ride on Sunday 2 February.

I’ll be at NPD Rolleston on Jones Road for coffee at 9.00am. Will leave there at 09.30am prompt.

First stop is the Gull Fuel Stop just off SH1 by the Pegasus roundabout. Should be there by 10.00am but won’t leave until 10.15am.

Screenshots of both locations below.

Very relaxed ride planned. Out to Waikari, then inland towards Oxford for a stop. Home via Waimak Gorge Bridge.

Hope to see you there.
