Happy Matariki to everyone!

Looking back to 1980: When the National government of the day floated changing the flag, Mana Motuhake founder Matiu Rata argued there was no point unless it served a real purpose. He suggested that the true step forward would be officially renaming the country to Aotearoa.

Decades later, the conversation around names, symbols, and identity continues to shape our political landscape.

🇳🇿🤝🇮🇳 New Zealand is strongest when everyone feels safe and respected.

Recently, many members of the Indian community have expressed concern about experiencing racism and hate. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or background.

Indian New Zealanders contribute every day by caring for patients, running businesses, working in technology, teaching students, paying taxes, and helping build stronger communities.

Let’s choose kindness over prejudice, facts over stereotypes, and unity over division. Together, we can make New Zealand a place where everyone belongs.

Hate divides. Respect unites. ❤️
