You may have noticed our new coffee shed has arrived on the other side of the surf club.

With the surf club renovations starting soon, we’ve had to move from our current spot. The council has relocated our site, and we’re really grateful there was an option that allows us to stay here and keep serving this amazing community.
We’ve been busy behind the scenes fitting out the new shed for a while now, with a lot of thought going into making it just right for you all.

We’re feeling a mix of excitement and nerves (just like many of you!) as we prepare for the move. At the moment, we’re waiting on services to be connected, and once that’s done, we’ll be up and running in the new spot over the coming weeks.

Piles of toilet paper and rubbish littering the North Beach sand dunes is prompting calls for freedom campers to be banned from the area.

Here’s another channel to have your say. ❗️REMINDER - The 3yr Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board draft plan is out for consultation: CLOSES SUNDAY 15th MARCH.

This helps guide where our boards staff resources are allocated. Once items are completed they can be replaced.

There are four Coastal priorities included; however, only three may be adopted. Check the link below for further priority information:

- North Beach carpark and Freedom Camping issues from Broadpark to Caspian St
- Rawhiti School safety improvements
- New Brighton Mall Masterplan
- Pages Road Bridge (non-funded ancillary works) and key transport links.

🚌🚐This has been a huge issue in our area. We had a great turn out last Monday at our Residents Assoc meeting. Thanks to those who attended and shared their experiences, stories, thoughts and concerns. Thank you to the reps from Waimairi & Southshore Res Assoc’s and the apology from New Brighton Res group.
The never ending influx of FC’s and the issues residents are having now is not just a North Beach problem, residents are having issues all along our Coast line. We will discuss our next steps. 🚌🚐

🌅🚖NORTH BEACH CAR PARK trial P360 feedback is on the Community Boards agenda tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who took the time to submit on the P360 and those who are making a deputation to the Com Brd tomorrow.👏 Agenda’s can be found on the link below👇
Traffic staff are trying to assist with parking restrictions however, to resolve the actual problem - 🚐Freedom Campers (FC) camping in the Carpark and along the coast, really needs to be addressed through a change in the FC bylaw and potentially a temporary ban by the CCC Chief Executive Officer, which needs to be explored until the bylaws can be changed. We will keep working on it, as the Community Brd have it currently as a priority in our draft 3 yr plan. Link below please provide your feedback, thank you. 😎

🚐🌅Hey North Beach crew.
Our next general meeting is on Monday 2nd March, 7.30pm, upstairs in the Nth Beach Surfclub.

Some of the items on the agenda:

1. Marine Pde current upgrades from Hawke St to Bowhill Rd - A representative from Isaac Construction will attend to provide an update and answer any questions.
2. Cycle lanes proposed along Bridge St, to Marine Pde, then north to Bowhill Rd and continuing up to Rookwood Ave. CCC engagement staff will be attending to speak to this item and would like some feedback prior to public consultation.
3. Nth Beach Carpark P360 'signage trial', our RA would like some feedback please.
4. Freedom Camping along the beach from Broadpark south, including the Nth Beach Carpark etc. Our RA would like some feedback please.

FYI

Next week (Monday 2nd – Friday 6th March) there is a need to close the leisure pool at Taiora:QEII
~only the lazy river and pool attached to it~

This is due to rip in the seam of the liner which is under warranty. Due to the location of the rip being on the floor of the lazy river it needs to be repaired ASAP so not to cause further damage to the liner.

We will plan to re-open this pool on Saturday 7th but we will open earlier if possible.

The wetplay ,toddlers and hydroslide will remain open as per usual during these dates.

🐠🌱A couple of temporary art pieces from talented students at Chisnallwood Intermediate School, have been installed on the changing room entrance walls at the North Beach Carpark. They focus on caring for the environment and sustainability. Check them out next time you are at the beach. A brief explanation is beside each mural. Thanks to all involved. 🌱🐠
