Netherlands Society Christchurch NZ The Netherlands Society Christchurch provides a social environment for persons of Dutch descent or pe In 1965 the Netherlands Society Christchurch was founded.

This was in response to the large migration of people from the Netherlands in the 1950s. It was formed so that the migrants had a place to share experiences and socialize with people of similar backgrounds. In 1972 the club bought a property in Ouruhia, which was a Golf Club, and built clubrooms on this property. Both still exist and are managed by the Netherlands Society Christchurch Inc and the

golf course is leased by the Everglades Golf Club. Our venue is for hire. We have full kitchen facilities and lots of space to hold events. Contact: Annie vd Dussen: 021 062 5656 or email Miryam: [email protected]

We have plenty of free parking on site. The Everglades Golf Club runs from the same premises, and parking for the golfers is at the back of the clubrooms. Today the Netherlands Society organizes social events on a monthly basis. Most are open to the public with the largest event being the annual St Nicholas Picnic held at 637 Marshland Road. There is also a very successful social club called The Youth of Yesterday, who meet on a Friday morning. Members receive a monthly newsletter and reduced entry to social events and a reduced rate to hire the venue. Membership in the Dutch Society is an annual renewal. The Club year is from 1st April to 31st March. The Club sends out invoices in the first week of April. Membership Fees

Our AGM is held every year in June. We are always looking for new members to join us in the running of the club, and to keep the club and our heritage alive. Contact: [email protected] if you are interested in joining the committee, at any time throughout the year. Dutch Market
The Dutch market is held at the clubrooms every 2nd Sunday of the month, from February to November. Stallholders welcome! When: 10am – 12.30pm

Dutch Language Classes
The Dutch language lessons are a great way for anyone wanting to learn or practice the language to get together and speak some Dutch. When: 1:15pm, every 2nd Sunday after the Dutch Market

Youth of Yesterday
Maybe you would just like to get out of the house for a cup of coffee and a chat speaking Dutch or English and making new friends. There is a small charge of $2. A bottomless cup of coffee/tea with a speculaas biscuit is provided. Bring your own lunch. If you know of someone or a group who would like to come, bring them. There is plenty of room. There are 4 groups operating: cards - Klaverjas, adult colouring in, Rummikub, and golfers. When: Every Friday morning 9:30am – 2:00pm approx. Where: At the clubrooms, 637 Marshland Road

Toenail Culture Ale
Toenail Culture Ale has been running for over 20 years and is our very own drama club. It is the only 'Dutch speaking' drama club nationwide, and they travel NZ to bring their shows to other locations. Contact: Annie van der Dussen at 021 062 5656 for more information. Everglades Golf Club
The Everglades Golf Club runs as a separate entity from the Netherlands Society. They have their own clubrooms in the rear of the building. New members are always welcome. DUTCH MARKET
This Sunday, 14 June, from 10 AM to 12.30 PM

We hold our market in our large indoor setting, so we can have it no matter the weather.
We have Dutch cheeses, herring, witlof, Dutch pikelets, frozen frikadelle and croquettes, Dutch liquorice, freshly made stroopwafels, and all sorts of other Dutch goodies. Besides all the Dutch foods, we also have handmade crafts on offer, and even knife sharpening.
So come and join us, have a look around, a chat, a coffee, and of course, stock up on your Dutch goodies.

Onze markt wordt gehouden in onze grote zaal zodat deze kan plaatsnemen ongeacht het weer.
We hebben Nederlandse kazen, heerlijke zoute haring, witlof, broodje kroket, poffertjes, bevroren frikandellen en kroketten, drop, vers gemaakte stroopwafels, en allerlei andere Nederlandse lekkernij. Daarnaast hebben we ook stalletjes met ambachtelijke spulletjes; je kan zelfs je messen laten slijpen.
Kom gezellig kijken, een babbeltje maken, bakkie doen en natuurlijk je voorraad inslaan met al dat lekkers.

Dear Dutch citizen in New Zealand,

On 8 and 9 July 2026, we are organizing a pop-up session in Invercargill. During this session, you can apply for a Dutch passport or ID card.
Want to activate your DigiD? You don't need an appointment; you can simply walk in on the 8th of July between 14:00pm and 15:00 and on the 9th of July between 10:00 and 11:00.
