Why SPICED Hot Cross Buns?

We eat Hot Cross Buns on this day to recall death on the cross and the bun is SPICED to recall the embalming process. This is important because His enemies reported that He hadn't died. So there is a little explanation about Easter SPICES.

Good Friday is a holiday to remember that Jesus died for the sins of His people, was embalmed with SPICES and buried this day. We know the exact day because of the Lunar calendar. It's good because His choice to suffer in place of His friends was a gift to all who believe in Him.

USING HERBS IN REFLEXOLOGY
Fiona Bowden is trained in Reflexology and has a Diploma in Herbal Studies. Fiona will talk about Reflexology and the benefits it has including managing stress and helping to create relaxation. She will also include tips for making a foot soak and what herbs to use.
To top the evening off you will get to enjoy a hand massage using either calendula or rosehip oils. You can practice this on another member or opt to work on yourself.
Please bring a small cushion and a towel. We look forward to seeing you all there.
The evening is free to our members and $5 for non members.

𝗕𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗯𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗯 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵....
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯. 𝟳.𝟬𝟬 𝗽.𝗺. 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹
This month, we are honoured to have two guest speakers from the Christchurch Hobbyist Beekeepers Club, Paul O’Donnell (ex President) and Gordon Nairn (Committee Member and Hivemaster), who will talk about 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗯𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝘀. Hopefully, they will bring a display frame of bees, so participants will be able to find the Queen.
The Herb Federation of New Zealand’s 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗯 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 is March. To commemorate this, we will introduce herbs that feature on the HFNZ’s poster – some or all of 𝗚𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿, 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆, 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗼𝘂.
We shall also make a 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗺, if time allows. Herbal balms or salves can be made from herb infused oils and/or essential oils with a wax (eg beeswax) and a carrier oil. They are useful for skin conditions such as chapped skin, rashes, and other skin conditions. You can formulate them to repel bugs – even to promote beard growth!!
We will finish with herby teas and refreshments – bring something to share! Also the sales stall will be open...
