CLOSED on Mondays and Public Holidays. Please note: We do not allow viewings or walkthroughs of the kennels/yards as the dogs find visitors walking around to be stressful. All viewings and meetings of dogs are by appointment only, with adoption applicants.

Update from our lovely collies, after almost 5 months at the shelter 🧡

It might not look like much, but 2 weeks ago we finally managed to put a harness on Bolt (the brown one), something we could barely even attempt until then. He is just starting to get used to human touch.

This small step was actually a huge milestone for Bolt. It meant he was finally ready to be safely walked out in the community and start expanding his world beyond the shelter.

Jette and Bolt have both come such a long way, and we are incredibly proud of them!

Bolt is still available for adoption! He will need lots of patience, understanding and gentle training to help him build his confidence, so he is looking for adopters who are willing to work with him at his own pace.

He is a really special boy, and we can't wait to see him continue to blossom

🧡 Do you remember Posie? 🧡

Posie is a sweet 9-month-old who arrived with us really shut down. She quickly gained confidence and started showing us her cheeky, playful side!

Like any young dog, she’ll need ongoing gentle training and a family who is willing to keep building her confidence and helping her navigate the world.

Posie has also spent some time in a respite home, and apart from developing a few unnecessary gardening skills 🌱😅, she has been a wonderfully affectionate girl. She loves napping in the sun, enjoys walks around the neighbourhood, and of course, absolutely LOVES her toys. She could happily play all day!

Posie can be a little wary of strangers at first, but with calm introductions, she warms up quickly and is soon showing you her sweet personality.

She has come such a long way, and we think she is more than ready to start the next chapter of her life.

🧡 Jimmy has been with us for 3 long months. Why? We still don't know!

Let's start with the positives: Jimmy is very social with both people and dogs, knows his basic commands, and is incredibly affectionate. He's playful, full of energy, and always ready for some fun!

Now for the quirks, because no dog is perfect!

Jimmy can be a little jumpy and can be quite strong on the lead. He's also likes cats a bit too much so cat-free home will be a must.

But Jimmy is eager to learn and ready to keep working on his manners. With the right family, we're sure he'll make a wonderful addition to the household.

Three months is far too long for this lovely boy. Could you be the family he's been waiting for?

Freshly arrived in foster care, these three beautiful 6-month-old puppies are ready to start their new lives !

These gorgeous siblings are Staffy × Huntaway mixes who have come from a rural environment. They’re still finding their feet in the big wide world and will need patient, understanding homes where they can take things at their own pace.

With plenty of positive experiences, gentle guidance, patience and encouragement, these three can build their confidence and discover just how wonderful life can be.

🧡 Nonu is still waiting for his forever family! 🧡

Nonu is a handsome 9-year-old Husky cross who has come into our care through private surrender. He is a kind and gentle boy at heart, but he certainly has a big personality and isn’t afraid to let you know exactly what he’s thinking!

This older boy is looking for someone who has the time, patience and commitment to make him a priority and help him become the best version of himself.

Nonu would love to be the only pet in his new home, where he can soak up all the love and attention and be treated like the very special prince he knows he is! 👑

He would suit a family with older, dog-savvy children and is not suitable for a home with cats. His new family will need to be committed to providing him with daily exercise, ongoing training and plenty of interaction.

Nonu is certainly full of opinions! He’s still waiting to meet his special person.

He’s a lovely old boy with plenty of personality, and we would absolutely love to see him retire into a loving, comfortable family home where he can enjoy his golden years. ❤️

🧡 Meet Noah! 🧡

Noah is a 1-year-old Staffy mix with a wonderfully sweet, cuddly nature and a clever little brain. He absolutely loves being around people and is always ready for some affection, fun and attention.

Noah gets along well with both male and female dogs and enjoys canine company. He’s also a big fan of his toys and loves having something fun to keep his clever little brain entertained!

As a young, bouncy boy, Noah would be best suited to a home with older, dog-savvy children who are comfortable around an enthusiastic and energetic dog.

He’s still working on his lead manners, but Noah is learning quickly and is eager to please. With a little patience, guidance and consistency, he’s sure to keep making great progress.

Unfortunately, Noah is not cat friendly, so he will need a cat-free home.

Noah will also need a home with good, secure fencing to keep this active young boy safe and sound.

🧡 MEET NORMAN! 🧡

Norman, a 1 year old sharpei mix, came to us after spending some time at the Christchurch pound, and this sweet boy is now ready for his next adventure!

He is a friendly, affectionate, people-loving boy who is happiest when he’s with his humans. He’s a sensitive soul who loves companionship and would really thrive in a home where he has some daytime company.
And he’s a clever cookie! Norman is food motivated, eager to learn and ready for more training, making him a fun boy to teach, bond with and watch grow.

🐶 DOGGY FRIENDS: Norman gets along well with female dogs, but careful introductions are important. He can be VERY enthusiastic when meeting new girls, sometimes a little too enthusiastic for their liking! 😂
👧 KIDS: Norman is a big, bouncy boy, so he’d be best suited to a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to interact safely and respectfully with an energetic dog.
🐱 CATS: Norman is cat trainable and even seemed a little shy around the cat he met! 🥹

Our two lovely black dogs had so much fun on their first date!
(But don’t tell Jimmy, Katy’s official boyfriend! 😉)

Norman has been with us for a couple of weeks now and is slowly adjusting to life at the shelter. He’s such a beautiful boy and deserves a loving home of his own.
