The Opera Club,Christchurch

The idea of the Club is similar in concept to nearly every other Club you might find anywhere in the world, and as such opens up the opportunity for anyone with an interest in the genre to be a member, not just singers. The objective is to provide an entity that members can identify with and be associated with regardless of where they’re performing, who they’re performing with, or if they’re perfo

rming at all. It is also a vehicle for singers in the region to develop their craft and to provide them with performance opportunities. The intent is not to try and replicate any other arts entity either in existence now or in the past, nor is it to establish a new opera company of any sort, but rather to be a new entity complimentary to all others within the arts circles of Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. The Opera Club will not only host its own concerts and small operas, but will also cover any performing scenario where singers may be required, such as corporate gigs, CCC sponsored events, Test match entertainment, the opening of new municipal facilities, National Anthems, etc.
