Here’s a quick update on what’s been happening in the Earthquake Legacy project:

Engineering firm, Jacobs, has been contracted to lead the erosion investigation for the estuary edge in Southshore, and the Southshore Residents’ Association (on behalf of the Southshore community) has endorsed Gary Teear as their technical expert through a nomination process. Gary will work with Council and Jacobs to investigate estuary edge options. At this stage a draft erosion options report is due in May 2020 and the final report will go to the Community Board and Council in June 2020.

We’re also in the process of appointing a contractor to do some work to fill in places where ponding occurs near the Blighs Garden and Kibblewhite stopbanks. The contractor should be confirmed by the end of January 2020, with work to start after that.

From all of us here at Council, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday break. We’ll be in touch again in the new year.
