Such a deep Rotary history!

I'm not an early morning person but Nick and Liz Courtney joined Bronte Barber at Christchurch Sunrise Rotary to support her in becoming a Rotarian. Bronte now joins her grandfather and father as a 3rd generation Rotarian. Bronte began as (RYE) Rotary Youth Exchange student to Sweden then attended ( RYLA) Rotary Youth Leadership Award and became the Oceania MDIO ( Multi District Organisation) for Rotaract. Brontes enthusiasm for all things Rotary is obvious and we welcome her into our larger Rotary family.

This morning we inducted Bronte Barber into membership of Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise, at President Michael Burson's last formal meeting for his year. A very special moment for Bronte, and for her family, including her father, Gary Barber, a long term member of our club and current club treasurer.

Our Bain Marie is alive again! 🎉

This Bain Marie has become a cornerstone of our kitchen service, helping us keep food warm while we serve our community. Last week, the heating element failed, which meant we could no longer keep meals at the right temperature.

Thanks to a conversation with Ross at the Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise, a few phone calls were made, conversations were had, and some incredibly kind-hearted people stepped up to help.

Today, our Bain Marie is back up and running, ensuring we can continue providing warm meals and hospitality to those who walk through our doors.

A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise, Ross Skinner, and Gary Masters for your generosity, practical support, and willingness to help. Your kindness makes a real difference to our community.

Delta Community Support Trust do such great work in their community. Proud to be partnering with them in the Rotary cans for a cause campaign!

Today, members of Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise are proud to be supporting Rotary New Zealand’s nationwide Cans for a Cause campaign, helping collect food for those facing hardship in our community.

Graciously hosted by New World Stanmore, Rotary Club of Sunrise will be collecting cans and non-perishable food items until 5pm today, with all donations going to support the vital food provision services of Delta Community Support Trust.

The need has never been greater. The recently released Hunger Monitor Report found that one in three New Zealand households experienced food insecurity in the past year.
That statistic is confronting, but the response from our community is inspiring.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity shown by members of the public, our partners at New World Stanmore, and the incredible support of Rotary. Every can donated is a tangible act of kindness and a reminder that together, we can make a real difference.
If you're passing by today, please consider adding a can or two to the collection. Together, we can help ensure no one in our community goes hungry.

Inspirational talk this morning from Para athlete Tim Johnson, ex New Zealand representative wheelchair rugby player and now New Zealand representative Para table tennis athlete.
Tim's energy, passion, sense of humor and dedication to his sport made for a great start to our Friday morning as he shared his life journey with us.

So pleased to be able to offer this support to such a worthwhile cause.

A huge heartfelt thank you to Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise for generously sponsoring 112 Gabby Play Parcels for children at Christchurch Hospital 🤍

These parcels will bring comfort, distraction, creativity and moments of joy to children and families facing incredibly hard days in hospital, and we are so deeply grateful for this support.

A very special thank you as well to my amazing friend The Make Company founder Kirsty, who spoke so beautifully to the Rotary club about Gabby’s legacy and the heart behind what we do. Having people share Gabby’s story with such love and sincerity means more than words can say.

It also felt especially meaningful because this support came through the kindness and encouragement of two very special people, our wonderful volunteer Pam, and her husband John, who is part of the Rotary club. Thank you both for believing in our mission and helping guide us toward this grant opportunity. Your support and care behind the scenes has been so appreciated.

Together, this kindness will help brighten the days of so many children and families at Christchurch Hospital. Thank you for helping Gabby’s light continue to shine 🤍
