When food prices are probably on the rise with fuel, I feel so humble that Ōtuatahi has such a strong network of local food producers where so many of us rely on human power to grow copious amounts of Kai. With autum harvests on the drop I’m not worried about where my food is coming from. 🎃
Look out for your local community garden and if you don’t know, let us know what area you are in in and we will help you! 🌱

Wednesdays are still open days! 9.30-11.30 Fi is there pretty much every week and it may only be until winter. We have a new space so keep watching to see how this year unfolds.

We have exciting new partnerships to consolidate and plenty of ways young people and community can be involved.
We are currently offering 1-1 mentoring in the Māra that can also involve some adventure therapy for those keen to explore more of what Otautahi has to offer. We also continue to offer group bookings

Get in touch if you’re on the fence or come down to see us. Today is going to be warm and the chickens are chatting away. There’s plenty to do here!! 156 Peterborough street.

Build sustainability skills, connections with others and te taiao (natural environment). Grow confidence and support for health and wellbeing 💖☀️🌸

Exciting to be back on the farm for the new year. Market is open! Weekly volunteer days still happen at Peterborough St Urban Farm on Wednesday 9-11.30 and Otakaro Orchard on Thursdays.

Cultivate’s youth programmes are on hold until we secure more funding and or contracts. We are working on a new yet similar programme to the past few years and partnerships to deliver these.

In the mean time - school holidays means Fi’s two get to enjoy working on the farm and it’s hard to get them to leave !! They love the chickens and harvesting for Wednesday market!

Have your say!

Outdoor Education gives young people opportunities they can’t always get in a classroom. It builds resilience, confidence, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. It keeps students engaged in school, especially those who struggle in traditional settings, and connects them with Aotearoa.....

“What defines a leader?
This cohort of Cultivate rangatahi have been amazing to get to know. Each one offers strengths in droves and it reflects in our outdoor adventures. There’s the person who inspires from the front, who draws conversation from people and wholeheartedly wants to know you. There’s the person who encourages from the back to make sure no person is left behind or feels bad for holding the group back. There are the people who bring excitement, enthusiasm, willingness, and persistence to every activity, even pulling up endless convolvulus and couch grass. And there are the people who offer their wealth of life experience and expertise.

As well as learning how to mahi māra (work in the garden), care for native seedlings and trees in the ngahere (forest), we’re reinforcing our knowledge on how to lead and be part of a team.
