Sheila MORRIS Obituary
On Monday, September 21, 2026, passed away peacefully at home in Christchurch, aged 87 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Bill. Cherished friend of many, words cannot express. In lieu of flowers, donations towards a Memorial Plaque can be paid to the National Dog Groomers Association of NZ by bank transfer to 06-0254-0548826-00, with reference Sheila Morris. The memorial service for Sheila will be held in the Canterbury Kennel Centre, 701 McLeans Island Road, Christchurch, on Tuesday, September 29 at 1:00pm. A memorial to celebrate Sheila’s life will be held:

Everyone who knew and loved Sheila is warmly welcome to join us as we come together to remember and celebrate her life.
We have also created an online remembrance form and would love everyone to contribute — whether or not you are able to attend the memorial. Because of the cancellation of the National Dog Show, DogsNZ has decided to open up the entries for the FCI CACIB Shows here in Christchurch on the 5th & 6th September. Entries will open on Monday morning for two days. Take this opportunity to attend along with the Plains KA shows. We thank the President and EC for this opportunity.

It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of CKA Life Member and long time Custodian/Caretaker John Davidson. John was for many years the caretaker at McLeans Island, mowing the grass, repairing the irrigation and anything else that broke down, cut down trees and a multitude of other jobs. We will be forever in his debt. Our deepest sympathy to Ellen, Emma and all of John's friends and family at this sad time. Rest well John.

CGC Notice Corwrecktion

In a former notice, it was specified that CGC Classes would finish on June 22nd and recommence 27th July.
Apologies for the incorrect dates given.
Last CGC Class will be tonight (15 June 2026). If coming, please bring a plate to share.
Recommencement date will be Monday 27th July.

The new switchboard at the kennel centre has been installed. This eliminates a serious fire risk and allows space for us to consider solar in the future. Our very grateful thanks to Pub Charity Ltd. Without their support this project wouldn't have happened.
