Getting out of danger matters. But for many survivors, safety is only the beginning of recovery.
The effects of trauma can continue long after the immediate danger has passed. Recovery may involve counselling, legal support, education, livelihoods, family support and time.
That is why trauma-informed care looks beyond the immediate crisis. It supports survivors to rebuild safety, confidence and independence, while recognising that recovery is different for every person.
At Hagar, we believe support needs to keep showing up.
Recovery takes time. And long-term support matters.
