We are now taking applications for volunteers for the Prison Education Project 2026!

The Prison Education Project is an amazing opportunity where you get to use your skills in a prison setting. We aim to make legal information digestible and interesting for people in prison so they can feel empowered with knowledge. The project is run alongside Community Law Canterbury and Crimsoc.

Volunteers visit three Christchurch prisons and run classroom style/small groups sessions delivering the information.

Topics include: Tenancy, employment, debt + money, health rights in prison, courts, civics, legal ages, parole, family, rights in prison.

There is also no requirement that you be a law or criminal justice student, if you love teaching then this could be for you!

Time commitment: Around 8 hours a month, including training time, travel, delivery of session and debrief.

If you are interested, please fill out the form in our bio!
