Brass Band Association of New Zealand

Brass Band Association of New Zealand Keep up to date with community brass bands, national representative bands & national championships. Band members range in age from eight to 90 years of age.

Established in 1931, the Brass Band Association of New Zealand (BBANZ) is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that works on behalf of 52 community brass bands and their 1900 members. More than 30% of band members are under the age of 23 years. Each year the Band Association organises the National Brass Band Championships, a community education workshop, the National Secondary School Brass Ban

d training camp, and the National Youth Band training camp and concert tour. Periodically a National Band is formed to perform concerts in New Zealand and overseas or compete in international contests.

A Gabrieli Fantasy by Bert Appermont, the Own Choice work from Wellington Brass Band.

Friday 15 May
World O World by Jacom Collier, and arranged by Steven Booth, the musical director of the performing band, Waitakere Auckland Brass.

RNZ Concert is New Zealand’s fine music network. Concert promotes New Zealand music and composition and features live broadcasts of concerts and recitals, as well as international content from other public radio broadcasters, podcasts, and on-demand programmes.

NYBB 2026 - rehearsals continue for the band's big concert tomorrow from 2.00pm at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, Auckland. Tickets are still available via TryBooking at https://www.trybooking.com/nz/BABD, and door sales are available on the day.

The concert won't be livestreamed, as RadioNZ is recording it instead. So....come along in person to support our super young musicians.
