🕊️ RIP Kaylin O’Hanlon Geary

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to Kaylin O’Hanlon Geary from Aghnaha, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan, who has sadly died suddenly and unexpectedly in New Zealand.

Kaylin, who was just 22, has been remembered as a beautiful and kind person, with friends and loved ones sharing their heartbreak at her sudden passing.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her parents Adrian and Clare, her sister Emma, brother Tom, grandparents, extended family and all of Kaylin’s many friends at this incredibly difficult time.

May Kaylin rest in eternal peace. 🕊️❤️

Hi there!

We’re reaching out from Antarctic Heritage Trust. We’re currently looking for a young person from Ireland, aged 18–30 and currently residing in New Zealand, to join our Inspiring Explorers Expedition™ to the Ross Sea region of Antarctica in January 2027.

As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, the young Irish person selected will join participants from across New Zealand, the UK and the US, representing these countries’ governance contribution to the Trust over the last four decades.

For the Irish opportunity, applicants would need to be currently living in New Zealand and intend to remain in New Zealand for at least 12 months.

Applications are currently open, and we’d love to encourage more young Irish people living in New Zealand to apply for this unique opportunity! Please note that applications close on 4 October 2026.

We thought we’d reach out as this may be something you’d like to highlight across your community and networks here in New Zealand.

If you’re interested in sharing the opportunity, we’d be very happy to provide any additional information, imagery or social media content you might need.

You can also find more information about the expedition and eligibility on our website: https://inspiringexplorers.co.nz/

Thanks so much!

On behalf of the Christchurch Irish Society, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Kylee Dillane who has finished her role as Community liaison officer on Friday. Kylee has successfully run a number of events over the last couple of years and we will miss her input, as Kylee, Liam and the Family return to Ireland.
We wish you all the best for the future.
