The City Park Community Patrol participated in an excellent training event today, focusing on traffic management around car accidents. Alongside other community patrols from the Canterbury District, we learned valuable skills. Special thanks to the Police, FENZ, and Ann Smith from CPNZ for organizing this event.

The day included an impressive demonstration of the procedures at the scene of a crash and how to respond effectively.

At all times of the year, and especially during winter, you need to be able to be seen by other people.

Hereโ€™s a reminder on when to use your headlights and the different settings. Even if you have automatic lights, always check youโ€™re using the correct setting for the conditions โ€“ whether it's dark, raining, or foggy.

With the cold conditions tonight please remeber to slow down and drive to the conditions. New Zealand Police have some good general tips attached below โฌ‡๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปโ„๏ธ

You have less grip and traction in wet, snowy or icy conditions. Remember to slow down and drive to the conditions ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿป๐Ÿš— โ„๏ธ

In winter, a following distance of 4-5 seconds is a good rule of thumb but even further is better. After all, anything that gives you more time to react is a good thing in adverse weather conditions! โ›„๏ธ ๐ŸŒง โ˜”๏ธ

Stay safe out there.

A great reminder for everyone ๐Ÿ‘€ donโ€™t be the next target ๐ŸŽฏ
