There’s something special about experiencing art in person - the movement, texture, detail, and the stories behind each piece. Our upcoming Art and Sculpture Exhibition is full of art that invites you to slow down and take a closer look.
This striking sculpture, ‘Whorl’ by Christchurch artist Justin Galligan, is one of the many works featured in this year’s exhibition. Working with wire and steel, Justin creates mesmerising kinetic forms that sketch in three dimensions, shifting gently in the wind and offering a new perspective from every angle. His work explores balance without symmetry and draws inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence.
The exhibition brings together more than 50 established and emerging artists across painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media. Exclusive tote bags and cards featuring selected artworks will also be available for purchase.
If you can’t make opening night, come along over the weekend for koha entry, Saturday and Sunday 23 – 24 May, 10am - 4pm, at Hōhepa, 23 Barrington Street.
