Ranui House Rānui House & Rānui Apartments are a home-away-from-home for patients and their whānau who travel to Christchurch for medical treatment

When a loved one is in hospital, it can be overwhelming. That’s why having a place of respite is so important. Ranui House is a home away from home for families who need to travel to Christchurch for life-saving medical treatment. Owned and managed by the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust, Ranui House’s 26 apartments opposite Christchurch Hospital provide a warm, welcoming space so families can stay close.

We are here because we know that when families are together, they heal faster. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what kind of treatment you’re going through - everyone is welcome at Ranui House.

There’s something pretty special happening on the West Coast next Easter and Rānui is excited to be part of the action as charity partner of the kids race ❤

The Wild West Backyard Ultra returns to the Hokitika Beachfront on 26 March 2027 (that's Easter Weekend) set between the Tasman Sea and the Southern Alps - it doesn't get much more gorgeous than that!

Runners take on a 6.7km loop on the hour, every hour - continuing for as long as they can. It’s simple in format, but powerful in spirit… and it all comes down to one last runner standing.

What makes this event even more meaningful is the difference it creates. Every step taken helps support families staying at Rānui providing a home-away-from-home when it’s needed most.

Alongside the main event, the Kids Run (1km or 1 mile) is open to tamariki of all ages, with entry by donation every contribution going directly to support Rānui families.

Wonderful to be at Volunteering Canterbury special awards ceremony today celebrating the amazing volunteers right across Canterbury 💛

It was a room full of truly inspiring people making such a difference in our community. We were especially proud to see our House Supervisor Gary up on the big stage at the Salvation Army HQ in central Christchurch accepting an award on behalf of our Rānui volunteer, Graham - so well deserved!

A huge thank you to Amy, Chelsea, Hayden, Jenna, Kelly and Kerry from BNZ Christchurch who took part in our Meals from the Heart programme this evening.

On the menu was a hearty chicken pie served with mash and veggies, followed by chocolate brownie, ice cream and jelly for dessert - safe to say bellies were well and truly full!

The Rānui whānau were incredibly grateful for this winter warmer, with smiles all around. It was a special evening that brought everyone together over a delicious meal.

On behalf of the team at Bone Marrow Cancer Trust, and all of our whānau, thank you for your kindness and for providing such a beautiful meal this evening.

Round two and Ando Insurance have absolutely outdone themselves again 🙌

Huge thanks to Sue, Sean, Londa, Amanda and Teagan for this weeks Meals from the Heart and for filling the House (and bellies!) with something pretty special. Roast lamb with cheese & onion potato bake, all the veges… and then that self-saucing chocolate & raspberry pudding with ice cream - big WOW!

There wasn't a spare seat at the dining table and the feedback from families said it all - the roast lamb was a standout and such a treat. Lots of smiles, full plates and even fuller hearts.

We feel incredibly lucky to have Team Ando Insurance back in the kitchen supporting Rānui families. Safe to say… we’ll happily say yes to round three 😉🧡

As the colder months settle in, our Rānui Soup-er Fridays are back and we would love your support ❤

Each week, donated vegetables, stocks and fresh herbs are turned into nourishing soups by our wonderful team and volunteers ready for families staying at Rānui House and Rānui Apartments to enjoy - on a Friday! It’s a simple idea, but one that brings real comfort - a warm meal, made with love at the end of a long day.

Donations can be dropped off any day between 8.30am – 5.00pm at:

A big thank you to the team from Ashton Wheelans who joined us at Rānui House on Tuesday evening as part of Meals from the Heart programme. Accountants by day and chefs by night, Sarah, Rhys, Kirshna and Mariah put together such a special evening for the Rānui families - tacos, coleslaw and Mexican corn salad, followed by chocolate mousse and pavlova. Dinner was made with so much care and it showed. ❤

We’ve had so many lovely comments from families who attended, with the delicious homemade pavlovas receiving particular praise - clearly a real highlight of the night!

Ashton Wheelans have been proud supporters of our Meals from the Heart for over four years now and we truly value the generosity and heart they bring each time they show up. Creating moments like this for families going through difficult times means more than words can say.

Thank you Team Ashton Wheelans for your kindness, your time and for making such a genuine difference to our Rānui House community when it matters the most.❤❤❤
