ALPINE FAULT NET - frequencies.
This message contains a request to all Certified Amateur Radio Operators located within New Zealand. Please share!
The Alpine Fault Net co-ordinated by the HF Radio Charitable Trust is conducted on fixed frequencies.
The same frequencies are used for both exercise, and real natural disaster events.
https://hfradio.nz/alpine-fault-net/amateur-hf/frequencies/
We use 7115 KHz (primary) and 3605 KHz (secondary) so that all participants know exactly what frequency to listen to for Alpine Fault Net traffic in advance of a disaster.
If AT ANY TIME you hear traffic on 7115 KHz or 3605 KHz identifying as Alpine Fault Net, please stand by, and if possible offer your assistance by joining the net.
When there is Alpine Fault Net traffic active, either during an exercise or a real event, please either participate (highly preferred) or move to another frequency.
We are aware AREC conduct exercises from time to time using HF frequencies which may include those used by the Alpine Fault Net.
If when participating in an AREC exercise and you choose to use 7115 KHz or 3605 KHz, if heard, please give priority to our net control station ZL6EQ or any station identifying as participating in the Alpine Fault Net. If necessary change to another frequency.
Please be aware that the effectiveness of the Alpine Fault Net relies on the choice of fixed frequencies.
We also have participants with channelised equipment which cannot be changed to other frequencies easily, and antennas which are specifically designed for the Alpine Fault Net.
Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
regards
