Democracy project 'Loomio' has 3 days left to meet an important funding goal. Loomio is an open-source web application that helps groups make better decisions together.

We're changing the way the world makes decisions together. Building a tool for truly inclusive decision-making, not majority-rules polling, but actually coming up with solutions that work for everyone.

Submissions for the proposed GSCB Bill have been extended until June 21st. The proposed bill increases surveillance on New Zealand residents on behalf of the New Zealand Police, New Zealand Defence Force and the NZSIS (Security Intelligence Service), and other departments that may be specific by Order in Council. This bill will lessen oversight and increase the GCSB's powers, by blurring the roles with domestic agencies.

Please forward along to anyone who may be interested in funding a internet-based project in Christchurch. If you have an idea you'd like to see realised, get in touch with us and we can put you in touch with local developers.

InternetNZ has launched a funding round as part of its contribution to helping rebuild the earthquake-ravaged Canterbury region. If you or your organisation are seeking funding for an Internet/ICT-related project that will contribute to the rebuild then we would love to hear from you.

Wonderful to see the project moving forward. Congratulations to everyone for their hard work! Can't wait to see the results of the competition.

An earthquake-destroyed Christchurch school is the focus of an international design competition that aims to put schools at the heart of the rebuild.

Internet comparison: "Here's hoping we never have to move to New Zealand". Scathing comparison on how bad internet services really are in New Zealand (scroll down, we're at the bottom under Australia). Shameful for a country that prides itself on it's business and technical export acuity.

Remember the days when unlimited Internet connections were just that? Unlimited? I'm not talking about a generational gap here—it seems like but a few years ago, that $40, or $60, or $80 you shuffled away to your favorite Internet service provider each month got you true unlimited Internet.
