As we head into the cold winter months, remember that our club is still full speed ahead, planning for the next spring and summer season. Our juniors and lifeguards continue to do regular swim sessions. Our sponsor https://belfastkaiapoirotary.co.nz/ have kindly supported our swim coach for the winter season. Thank you so much. I have added a couple of cool pictures of our IRB teams from many years ago. Great to note that many of those in the pics are still actively involved in our club in some way.

Spenny’s Junior Surf Challenge 🌊

A huge thank you to our young lifeguards (Katie, Emily & Coach Joel) and our rookies who helped run this morning's Junior Surf Challenge.

This morning our juniors tackled tube races, refreshed their hand signals and the 3 Rs, tested their observation skills spotting objects from the tower with binoculars, and they even had to provide first aid for poor Coach Nick who "collapsed" on the walking track! 😆

Along the way they earned ducks for each team challenge, which they could cash in at "Duck Shop".

It's awesome to see our senior clubbies stepping up and helping develop the next generation of lifeguards. Thanks again to all who made the morning such a success. ❤️💛

SAVE THE DATE for the next Spencer Park Surf Life Saving Club (official) Spencer Park Dash for Cash. 12th December 2026 with 13th December as a back up day. Details and entries will be out soon. Stay tuned for the updates. We have taken the feedback on board and we will be adding some additional races for everyone. Please like and share the page.

The Canterbury/Tasman Awards of Excellence were held on Saturday night. We congratulate all the service award recipients, along with all the prize winners. You are a special part of the surf life saving community and we appreciate the efforts you all put in. From our club we congratulate the following people:-- Blair Maguire, Regional Service Award, Tony Lindley, Regional Service Award, Tim Harris, Regional Distinguished Service Award, Zeke De Gouw, Instructor of the Year, Tim Harris, BP Powercraft Contribution of the Year, Lucy Ryan, DHL Under 19 Lifeguard of the Year. We are also very proud winners of Patrol Club of the Year. Winning Patrol club of the year is really an honour, as that is what Surf Life Saving is, its patrolling first and foremost and Zeke De Gouw our Lifesaving Manager leads our patrols with the upmost dedication and commitment.
