It's National Volunteer Week and Cambridge is full of everyday heroes. ๐Ÿ™Œ

At CAB Cambridge, our amazing volunteers give their time, skills, and compassion to help people navigate some of life's challenges and we couldn't do what we do without them.

But they're just part of an incredible picture. Across our community we have a huge number of people giving their time in schools, op shops, clubs, community groups and emergency services to name just a few.

Do you know a volunteer in Cambridge who deserves some recognition? Let's show them some appreciation in the comments ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

Have you recently received a text or email saying youโ€™re due a tax refund? Phishing messages are designed to look authentic and can be hard to detect. Be on the lookout. Even if it looks convincing, don't click on links, or give out your bank details.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Remember we do not put refund amounts, or links directly to myIR in our emails or texts.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Scam emails may come from an email address or include links that are wrong but look like ours. For example: ird.co.nz, ird.qovt.nz or ird.gov.nz.

๐Ÿ‘‰ To check a link, use your mouse to hover over it. The address will appear in a box or at the bottom of your screen. Make sure the link is correct before clicking on it.

Our correct web address is ird.govt.nz and emails will come from [email protected] or [email protected].

22/05/2026

If you buy a gift card or voucher, it must clearly show the terms and conditions of its use, as well as its expiry date (if there is one). For gift cards or vouchers purchased from 16 March 2026, the minimum expiry date is three years.
Vouchers purchased before 16 March 2026 keep their original expiry date (if there is one). If there is no expiry date, this means the voucher should never expire.
It is a good idea to read the terms and conditions that come with your gift card or voucher and to use your gift card sooner rather than later. If the business closes or you lose your voucher, your rights to a refund are limited. If you lose a pre-loaded debit card, you may be able to get a replacement card, but you will need to check with the store. The business might charge you a fee for the replacement card.

โšก๐Ÿ’ฐ According to Consumer NZ research, the average household can save $500 a year by switching energy providers. Consumer NZ therefore recommends that people check their providerโ€™s competition to see if there are better deals elsewhere.
There are several comparison tools or services that allow you to compare your power bills against what other power providers charge for the same type of plans. Comparison tools such as Powerswitch, Billy, Switchme, Power Compare, Powershop, MoneyHub and Glimp will show you the providers that service your area, and how much they would charge based on an estimate of your normal usage.

If you decide to change power companies, you can do this through a comparison tool, and they will contact you to confirm that you want to switch. Or you can contact the chosen power provider directly. The new energy provider will take care of the transition for you. It is generally free to switch providers, with some exceptions.
