Waitangi Whānau Day 2026 🤍

Wow what a day! Ngā mihi nui to everyone who came along and made Waitangi Whānau Day what it was. The wairua of the day was felt right across the space, through the smiles, kōrero, laughter and the way our community showed up for one another.

Thank you to our whānau, hapori, volunteers, stallholders, performers and vendors who shared their time, energy and mahi. Your presence and support is what brings this kaupapa to life and creates a space where connection, celebration and unity can truly be felt. We couldn't have done it without you all! ❤️

We’re so excited to welcome Tutti Fruitti to Waitangi Whānau Day! 🍦🍓

They’ll be serving up real fruit ice cream and a delicious selection of baked goods, made fresh and full of flavour. With the sun shining, their ice cream cones will be the perfect way to keep our tamariki cool while enjoying the day.

🌟 Vendor Spotlight: Orange Eats 🌟

We’re thrilled to have Orange Eats joining us at Waitangi Whānau Day! ✨ They’ll be bringing a delicious taste of Malaysia straight to Seymour Square.

🍽 Expect a mouth-watering menu featuring favourites like nasi lemak, chicken satay, homemade pork belly, spring rolls, chicken bites, and gado gado (vegetarian favourite). 😋
Oranges Eats can’t wait to meet families on the day, share their flavours, and be part of such a fun and special event.

📢 You can catch Orange Eats regularly outside the Blenheim library, local markets and events around Marlborough.

We are SO excited to have the Tamariki Tent back at Waitangi Whānau Day. This fun FREE space is all about tamariki, a place to colour, create, and explore Tā Moko stencil art, with whānau creating right alongside them.

🌟 The tamariki tent is volunteer-run, and it wouldn’t be possible without their time, energy, and aroha 💛

We’re excited to have Kai Tere Aotearoa bringing the flavours of the moana and whenua to Waitangi Whānau Day!✨

Serving up kai made with heart, culture, and bold Aotearoa-inspired taste, this crew is all about feeding the people and bringing whānau together.

🍽 Expect a selection of mouth-watering options, including pāua or smoked fish pies, pāua on fries, hāngī, fluffy fry bread, hot dogs and chips and plenty more on offer to keep the whole whānau happy. 😋

🎵 WAITANGI WHĀNAU DAY ENTERTAINMENT 🎵

We are so excited to have the wonderful Carolynn Tipene joining us as our MC and entertainer for Waitangi Whānau Day! 🎤✨

Carolynn is not only an incredible singer, she has a special way of making everyone feel included. She knows exactly how to keep the crowd engage, whether it’s getting everyone singing together or moving on the dance floor. 🎶💃

She’s truly beautiful inside and out, always supporting others and spreading kindness wherever she goes. 🌟

If she's not booked for a private event you’ll often see her lighting up local spots like Fairweathers, Springlands Tavern, and Bamboo Tiger. If you see her advertised around town, you know you’re in for a good singalong and a great time! 🎵

We’re so grateful that Carolynn has kindly volunteered her time to be part of our Whānau Day. Ngāmihi nui Carolynn, for sharing your talent and your heart with us. 💚

🌟 Vendor Spotlight: Manaaki Kai Kart 🌟

We’re excited to have the Manaaki Kai Kart, run by the aunties of Omaka Marae, joining us at Waitangi Whānau Day! ✨

Their kai is made with aroha, culture, and a deep connection to whānau and the whenua.

🍽 At their cart, expect juicy, flavour-intense pulled pork sliders, slow-cooked in their special Kawakawa Jelly marinade, the perfect blend of sweet, smoky, and savoury.

The Mannaki Kai Cart will also have a range of Māori-infused condiments handmade at Omaka Marae, using produce grown in the marae marakai to make delicious products like Kawakawa Jelly, Kamokamo Pickle, and Horopito & Lemon Sauce. 😋

📢 Mannaki Kai Cart only attend select events. Follow them to find out how you can restock your favourite chutneys, jellies, and sauces from them directly.

A pōtae (hat) might be a good idea for this Waitangi Whānau Day Wairau !!

The countdown is on and it looks like te rā (the sun) will come out to play! How good!! ☀️

🦺 Seymour Square offers free water bubblers around the park and plenty of large trees for shade. We will also have sunblock avaliable at the H&S tent if you need to reapply or need any other assistance on the day. Just ask one of our amazing volunteers in hi-vis how they can help 🦺
