We are pleased to have received this letter from Geoff Blake, the CFO of Marlborough District Council, which confirms that no funds have been misspent by the current Wairau Valley Hall Community Trust board or it's representatives.

It is great to have closure regarding this ongoing matter and we hope that Geoff's statement provides reassurance to anyone in the community who had been aware of the allegations or sceptical of our conduct.

We are deeply committed to our role as trustees of the hall facility, and we look forward to focusing our energy on other more productive matters in 2026 and beyond 😊

OPEN FIRE SEASON

Our WV Volunteer Fire Brigade would like to remind the public that although no fire permit is required for private land, it is still the responsibility of the person lighting the fire to ensure this is done in a safe manner.

Fires need to be kept to a manageable size and smoke drift should not be a hazard for motorists.

Avoid lighting fires during or ahead of strong winds.

- Check for working smoke alarms and that they are within date
- Have a plan
- Have your chimney cleaned
- Safely dispose of ash
