🇲🇽 CROSSROADS WEDNESDAY COMMUNITY MEAL 🇲🇽

Wednesday, 7 October 2026
Join us this Wednesday for a delicious Mexican-inspired meal! Everyone is welcome! We're catering for 80–100 people, so bring your appetite and family, everyone is welcome for a warm, delicious feast!

🌯 MAIN:
Mild Beef Shin & Creamed Corn Enchiladas
Tender cubes of slow-braised beef shin with creamed corn, wrapped in tortillas and topped with a very mild homemade enchilada sauce and melted cheese. (No chilli heat!)

🍚 SIDES:
• Mild Mexican Rice: Tomato, onion, garlic, and stock with gentle Mexican seasoning.
• Crunchy Lime Slaw:Cabbage, carrot, and red onion with a creamy lime dressing.

🧀 KIDS' MEAL:
Cheesy Nachos
Baked corn chips with melted cheese, served with toppings on the side: canned corn, diced tomato, shredded lettuce, sour cream, and mild salsa.

🍮 DESSERT:
Mexican-Style Arroz con Leche
Creamy rice pudding flavoured with vanilla and cinnamon, served with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

☕ DRINKS:
Tea and coffee available from 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM.

Spring is here, daylight savings has kicked in, and the days are getting longer! ☀️🌱

With fresh energy in the air, it’s a timely moment for a quick refresher on our Community House Rules to keep our space safe, friendly, and welcoming for everyone who walks through the doors.

This is a safe space. These rules must be followed:

You must:
• Speak respectfully to everyone at Crossroads
• Follow instructions from staff and volunteers
• Treat all people equally, regardless of background
• Report any hazards or safety concerns to staff
• Respect the Crossroads space and property

You must NOT:
• Raise your voice at others
• Use foul, abusive, or degrading language
• Threaten or act with violence
• Damage or misuse equipment, furniture, or facilities
• Bring alcohol or drugs onto the premises or enter while under the influence of alcohol or drugs

If you break these rules:
• You will be asked to leave immediately
• You will not be allowed to return until you agree to follow these rules
• If you refuse to leave, Police may be called

If there is a problem:
• Tell a staff member or volunteer
• All concerns will be taken seriously and handled promptly, with your privacy respected where possible

🌷 Spring into Comfort at Crossroads This Wednesday! 🌷

Spring is in the air, and we’ve got a vibrant, delicious meal lined up for this week's Community Dinner! A huge thank you to the Marlborough Deerstalkers Association for generously supplying the meat for this week's main dish.

Here is what’s on the menu:
🍽️ Main Course
The Star: Mediterranean Venison & Goat Meatballs cooked in a mild tomato, garlic, and herb sauce (with thanks to the Marlborough Deerstalkers!)
The Sides: Fluffy lemon and parsley rice, seasonal vegetables, fresh garden salad, and a creamy garlic yoghurt dressing

🍨 Dessert
Jelly & Fruit Sundae: Colourful jelly and fruit salad topped with chilled chocolate custard and sprinkles 🎉

Our community meal program is growing fast, and with the number of meals we’re preparing increasing significantly, we need extra hands to keep the good food flowing!

We especially need a boost on Wednesdays, but we have welcoming slots available throughout the week.

If you have a couple of hours to spare, we’d love to have you on the team:

7:30 AM – 10:00 AM: 🥪 Sandwich Crew (2 volunteers)
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: 🧁 Extra Baking Helper (1 volunteer)
12:00 PM – 3:00 PM: 🔪 Meal Prep Crew (2 volunteers)
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: 🧼 Dishwashing Champion (1 volunteer)
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: 🍽️ Dinner Setup Team (2 volunteers)
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM: 🍲 Dinner Service Stars (6–8 volunteers)

📦 Crossroads Community Meal – Update & Call for Pantry Items! 📦

Our kitchen is well-stocked overall thanks to our amazing supporters, but we are running a bit low on a few staple pantry items to keep our community meals full of flavor!

If you are out doing a grocery run and would like to drop off a donation, we are currently looking for:

🧂 Pantry Essentials Needed:

Spices: Paprika, turmeric, mustard seeds, ground coriander

Flavour & Seasonings: Garlic, vanilla essence, brown sugar

Sauces & Vinegars: Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, white vinegar

📍 Drop-off Location: Crossroads Feeding Communities

🦌 Cozy Winter Comforts at Crossroads This Wednesday! 🦌

We’ve got an incredible, heartwarming menu lined up for this week's Wednesday Community Meal! Packed with rich flavors and classic Kiwi favorites, there’s something delicious for the whole family.

Here is what’s cooking:

🍽️ Main Menu

How amazing is this...

The Student Volunteer Army are in Marlborough this weekend giving a few of our non-profit organisations a few helping hands and loads of muscles.
Really appreciate them coming into Crossroads Marlborough for a much needed working bee.
