Statement from our ECB RSA President
In light of recent media coverage about financial issues within some RSA clubs, we want to reassure our community that the East Coast Bays RSA operates under strict governance, clear financial controls, and strong accountability around all Poppy Trust funds.
Although we do not have clubrooms, bar facilities, or a commercial operation, we maintain a robust and transparent financial structure designed to protect the integrity of our Trust and the Poppy Appeal funds entrusted to us.
Our accounts undergo an annual financial review by an independent Chartered Accountant, ensuring full oversight, transparency, and compliance with best‑practice standards. In addition, our Treasurer provides detailed monthly reporting covering both the Incorporated Society and the Trust.
All Poppy Appeal funds are managed in accordance with RSA national guidelines and the requirements of our Trust Deed. Historical Poppy Funds are held separately, and all current‑year Poppy Appeal donations are deposited into the designated Poppy Account before being allocated through the Trust’s annual grant process.
We want our members and supporters to feel confident that ECB RSA is in a stable position, with strong systems in place to avoid the challenges some RSAs are currently facing.
If any member or supporter wishes to understand our structure or learn more about how our funds are managed, we welcome the conversation. Transparency and responsible stewardship remain at the heart of everything we do for our veterans and our community.
Thank you
Ali Martin
ECB RSA President
