Hello lovely MAC parents!

At the moment we are a little short on volunteers for the MAC committee.

We recognize that being a parent of multiples can be quite hectic. However if you can volunteer a few hours per week or month to help keep the club running that would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s what being part of the committee entails:

Monthly committee meetings, which can be held online or in person, depending on everyone’s availability.

Group chat communications to stay up to date.

If you’re interested in helping but are unsure how, please reach out to us, and we can discuss ways for you to get involved.

Feel free to message us or comment below and our President Fran will get in contact with more information.

Having newborn multiples can be an overwhelming and challenging experience, but with the right support and resources, parents can navigate this exciting journey more smoothly.

One key aspect of support for parents of newborn multiples is building a strong support network.

Joining local Multiples groups like MAC can also provide valuable advice, camaraderie, and understanding from others who are going through similar experiences.

Here's a few tips that have worked for MAC parents and helped them get through the newborn stage:

🕓Setting up a routine: Establishing a feeding and sleeping schedule can bring some predictability to your days and nights. Consider creating a shared calendar with your partner to coordinate responsibilities and ensure both parents get enough rest. It's also important to practice self-care and prioritise your own well-being.

📱Use a baby tracker app or good old pen and paper: To help you keep track of feeding, sleeping, and nappy changes. This can be especially helpful in the early days when everything may feel overwhelming.

🍼Prepare in advance: Stock up on essentials like nappies, wipes, and baby clothes so you don't have to run out for supplies at the last minute. Setting up feeding stations and nappy caddies around the house can also make it easier to care for your babies wherever you are.

👋Accept help: Don't be afraid to ask for help from friends and family members. Whether it's cooking a meal, doing laundry, or watching the baby while you take a nap, accepting help can make a big difference in staying organised and keeping your sanity as new parents.

📞Lastly, don't hesitate to seek professional help if you're feeling overwhelmed or struggling to cope. Counseling or therapy can provide a safe space to discuss your feelings and develop strategies to manage stress. Remember that it's okay to not have all the answers and to lean on others for support.

Tell us what kind of support did you find helpful when caring for your newborn babies?

It's Multiples Awareness Week - Supporting Multiples.

This week we will be going through different Multiples stages and discuss how we offer support.

First Topic: Pregnancy.

Support during a multiple pregnancy is crucial for the health and well-being of both the mother and the babies.
Multiple pregnancies, such as twins, triplets, or more, come with increased risks and challenges compared to single pregnancies. It is essential for the mother to receive regular prenatal care from healthcare providers experienced in managing multiple pregnancies. This can help monitor the growth and development of the babies, as well as identify any potential complications early on.

Emotional support is also important during a multiple pregnancy, as it can be physically and mentally demanding. Family, friends, and support groups can provide much-needed encouragement and assistance to the expectant mother.

Practical support, such as help with household chores, meal preparation, and childcare for older siblings, can greatly alleviate stress and allow the mother to focus on her own well-being and that of her babies.

At MAC we organise buddies, Multiples specific antenatal classes and New parent events to help support the pregnancy.

What support have you received or would like to receive during your multiples pregnancies? . Tell us in the comments.
