The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Canberra is pleased to inform that the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) team is inviting applications from talented Bhutanese professionals based in Australia, New Zealand, and other parts of the world for the following positions at GMC:

On Saturday, 21 February 2026, we proudly joined the nation in celebrating the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty at Karmacholing Monastery in Auckland, New Zealand.

The program began with our National Anthem, followed by the heartfelt offering of Zhabten. We then continued with cake cutting and butter lamp offering. The light to dispel darkness — representing wisdom, clarity, and the removal of ignorance and recited the Barche Lamsel prayers to remove inner, outer, and secret obstacles, dedicating the merits for His Majesty’s unwavering leadership, peace, long life, good health, prosperity in Bhutan and around the world.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone.

Long live His Majesty the King. 🙏🪔🇧🇹

Tashi Delek and Happy Waitangi Day! 🇳🇿🇧🇹

Today, on the 6th of February, New Zealand marks its national day—Waitangi Day.

As a Bhutanese community who has made Aotearoa home, this day holds a special significance to us. It is a day to reflect on the Treaty of Waitangi (Te Tiriti o Waitangi).

Just as we value our roots and traditions in Bhutan, today we want to pay our respects to Tangata Whenua (the people of the land).

Happy Nyilo
Happy New Year 🥳

Nyilo is the traditional celebration of the winter solstice. Literally meaning the return of the sun, the shortest day of the year and it begins to increase daylight after that.

Back in the country lead by few elderly, children go from house to house singing “Lolay” traditional verses of good wishes for a prosperous health, wealth, animals and so on for a year. In which children gets gifts like egg, rice, biscuits and money but today children only excepts money 💰

It’s also considered an auspicious day, like if we do good deeds it will multiply and past mistake can be symbolically erased. Many people light Butter lamps and visit religious sites to accumulate merit.

Police are urging people to be cautious when it comes to buying goods listed for sale on social media.

Our advice is to always be vigilant when shopping via social media.

We’re seeing the same common tactics, which offenders use to lure in victims, including specifically requesting the victim bring cash for the sale, or requesting the buyer to come to the seller’s home address to purchase the item.

We’re also seeing an increase of alleged buyers providing a fake home address to the victim.

We have several suggestions for people looking to buy or sell online:

💸 First and foremost, we recommend using a reputable online site to buy or sell items.

💸 Check the social media profile of the seller. Is it a new profile or relatively blank? There's a chance it may be a fake profile.

💸 If the trader insists on meeting at a public place or unusual location to make a sale, be cautious. It may be that they are selling stolen items or don't want to be identified for some other reason.

💸 Equally, if purchasers are reluctant to meet in person or insist items are dropped off at a location, they may be avoiding being seen or identified.

💸 Purchasers who are happy to pay full price without trying to negotiate.

💸 If you are the seller, make sure the money is in your account before sending or handing off items.

💸 As the saying goes: if it is too good to be true, it probably is.

2-Our core team led by the Bhutanese monk group, for their initiative and guidance from preparation weeks before to the successful completion of the Rimdro -we are truly blessed to have such a talent, and experience within our community

3-The volunteer group who assisted our lamas during the Rimdro preparations day at Karma choling

4- The meal preparation volunteer team, led by our Treasurer, for their selfless dedication-labouring late into the night and beginning again at dawn to support the Rimdro

Special and sincere thanks to Venerable Pong Re Rinpochee and the Karmacholing Monastery for graciously allowing us to host the Annual Rimdro, facilitating the event with all necessary amenities, and making us feel truly at home in this blessed monastery.

Finally, heartfelt thanks to all members who attended the prayers in person, and to those who could not attend despite wishing to do so, but supported the Rimdro in spirit and prayer.
