Meet Anny 🇵🇸⛵️ sailing with us this March!
Born in Australia to Polish Jewish parents who survived the Holocaust and Soviet labour camps, Anny was raised in Melbourne’s Bundist community - a secular, non-Zionist Jewish workers’ movement rooted in solidarity, Yiddish culture, and responsibility to act where one lives.
A dancer, theatre-maker, and academic, she spent two decades working across Europe before returning to Australia, completing a PhD in dance and dramaturgy, and teaching at the University of Melbourne. Throughout her life, she has worked across immigrant, internationalist, and politically engaged cultural communities.
As a Jewish person, she has watched Zionism harden into state violence over decades. Refusing silence, she is now active with Jewish anti-Zionist organisations including Loud Jew Collective, Jews Against the Occupation ’48, and co-founded Jewish Voices for Understanding Antisemitism.
She acts not out of guilt or identity, but because genocide is visible, comprehensible, and must be opposed. She is a grandmother.
