Session Recap

Topic: Vaishnava Etiquette & Vaishnava Relationships

📍 Hare Krishna School, Auckland: Year 8th Classroom

🗓 Sunday | ⏰ 12–2pm

Over the past couple of weeks, we had the wonderful opportunity to dive deep into the essential principles of Vaishnava etiquette and Vaishnava relationships, guided by the teachings of acharyas.

In devotional life, how we serve, interact, and honour one another plays a crucial role in our spiritual growth. Whether it is during temple seva, kirtan, or prasadam seva - etiquette is not just formality, but an expression of humility, respect, and devotion.

During our reflections and group discussions:

✨ We understood the importance of showing respect and gratitude in all forms of seva, recognising every service as an offering to Krishna.

✨ We discussed proper conduct in temple environments maintaining cleanliness, attentiveness, and a service mood during kirtan and other engagements.

✨ We reflected on the significance of honouring prasadam with gratitude, seeing it as Krishna’s mercy.

✨ We explored how healthy Vaishnava relationships are built on humility, cooperation, and avoiding offences.

✨ We emphasised that true etiquette comes from the heart - expressing care, respect, and sincerity in our dealings with devotees.

This journey reminds us that spiritual life flourishes not just through individual practice, but through uplifting and respectful relationships within the Vaishnava community.

Grateful to all those who participated and shared their heartfelt realisations 🙏

We look forward to continuing this beautiful journey of learning and practicing Krishna consciousness together coming Sunday with yet another inspiring topic - Advancing through chanting.

We would be grateful for your association and presence.

🌿 Journey of Self-Discovery – Module 3 |
Session Recap

Topic: Rising Above Neophyte Behaviour

📍 Hare Krishna School, Auckland: Gaur-Nitai Class. Sunday. Time: 12–2pm

Last Sunday’s session, we explored the deeper transformation in devotional life — moving beyond neophyte tendencies and progressing towards steady, heartfelt bhakti.

True advancement is not just in external practice, but in inner vision, humility, and genuine relationships with devotees and Krishna.

Devotees also develop deep respect for one another, understanding that association is essential for growth. By valuing and honouring Vaiṣṇavas, one naturally progresses on the path of devotion.

During our reflections and group discussions:

✨ We understood the importance of avoiding criticism and duplicity, which can hinder our spiritual progress.

✨ We discussed how valuing essence over externals helps us stay focused on true bhakti rather than superficial practices.

✨ We reflected on the need to carefully protect the creeper of devotion from offences.

✨ We explored how genuine love for Krishna and His devotees is far more important than pride in rituals or external achievements.

This journey is about internal purification — cultivating sincerity, humility, and a service attitude in every moment.

Grateful to all those who participated and shared their heartfelt realisations

We look forward to continuing this beautiful journey of learning and practicing Krishna consciousness together next Sunday with yet another topic: Vaishanava Relationships

🌿 Journey of Self-Discovery – Module 3 |
Session Recap
Topic: Receiving Guests in Modern and Vedic Traditions – From Etiquette to Essence

📍 Hare Krishna School, Auckland: Gaur-Nitai Class. Sunday 8th March. Time: 12-2pm.

In this week’s session, we reflected on the beautiful Vaiṣṇava culture of receiving guests with humility, warmth, and a service mood. In the Vedic tradition, welcoming a guest is not merely a social custom but a sacred opportunity for devotional service.

The timeless principle “Atithi Devo Bhava” reminds us that a guest should be honored as a representative of the Lord. When we receive someone with sincerity, respect, and kindness, it becomes an offering of service to Lord Krishna.

Devotees are encouraged to cultivate a mood of seva (service) by warmly welcoming guests — offering them a seat, water, kind words, and most importantly prasādam, the Lord’s mercy.

During our group discussions:
✨ We reflected on how hospitality in devotional life goes beyond etiquette and becomes an expression of bhakti.
✨ By receiving guests with a humble heart, we practice Vaiṣṇava qualities such as compassion, respect, and service.
✨ When guests experience genuine care and spiritual warmth, they naturally feel attracted to bhakti and the association of devotees.

This simple yet profound practice helps us develop a service attitude and reminds us that every interaction can become an opportunity to please the Lord and His devotees.

Grateful to all those who participated and shared their thoughtful realisations during the discussion 🙏

We look forward to continuing this wonderful journey of learning and practicing Krishna consciousness together next Sunday with the topic:
“Rising Above Neophyte Behaviour.”

We would be grateful for your association and presence.

🌟 Journey of Self-Discovery – Module 2 Continues | Session Recap

Topic: The Importance of Visiting Dhāma & Deity Worship in Devotional Life
📍 Hare Krishna School, Auckland

In this week’s session, we explored powerful pillars of Bhakti that nourish the heart and deepen our connection with the Lord - visiting the sacred dhāma and engaging in deity worship.
We began with uplifting kirtan:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
Our discussion highlighted that visiting the dhāma is not just a pilgrimage but a transformative spiritual experience. The holy places carry the pure vibrations of the Lord’s pastimes.

✨ In the Vrindavan dhām, our spiritual intentions become stronger.
✨ The mind naturally turns toward Krishna.
✨ And the impressions we carry from the sacred land stay with us, guiding our devotional journey.

We also learned the significance of deity worship, a direct form of serving Krishna with love and personal attention.
Through offering, cleansing, dressing, and simply being in front of the deity, our heart becomes purified and our relationship with the Lord becomes intimate.
✨ Deity worship teaches consistency and discipline.
✨ It helps anchor the mind amid daily challenges.
✨ And it allows us to express devotion through action, not just thought.

Grateful to everyone who participated and shared their realizations 🙏
Looking forward to continuing this beautiful journey of Krishna consciousness next Sunday! 🌸

🌟 Journey of Self-Discovery – Module 2 Continues | Session 3 Recap
Topic: The Power of Sadhu Sanga – Association with Devotees
📍 Hare Krishna School, Auckland

Our third session in Module 2 took us deeper into the heart of Bhakti — exploring the transformative power of Sadhu Sanga, or association with devotees.

The session started with heartfelt kirtan —
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

We learned that Sadhu Sanga is the first and most essential stage on the path of devotion. It is through the company of like-minded devotees that our spiritual progress becomes steady, joyful, and deeply fulfilling.
From Sadhu Sanga, all other limbs of Bhakti naturally unfold — hearing, chanting, remembering, and serving the Lord.
✨ When we associate with devotees, our hearts become purified.
✨ Our enthusiasm for Krishna consciousness grows.
✨ And devotion becomes not just a practice, but a way of life.

Grateful to all who joined and shared their realizations 🙏
Looking forward to seeing everyone next Sunday as we continue this journey of Krishna consciousness! 🌸

📍 Hare Krishna School, Auckland

Our new module 2 has officially begun — and what a powerful way to start!

Drawing from authentic Vaishnava teachings and the priceless wisdom of our Acharyas, we reflected on:
✨ The role of hearing Krishna-katha from bonafide sources
✨ The importance of chanting the holy names with sincerity
✨ Association of devotees and how it shapes our consciousness
✨ The sanctity of residing in / serving holy places
✨ Deity worship — cultivating personal connection through seva

Each of these five limbs of Bhakti has the power to uplift our heart, purify our consciousness and bring us closer to Krishna — even if practiced in small steps, with faith and consistency.

Grateful to everyone who participated with enthusiasm and introspection.

Your presence and contributions made the session deeply meaningful.

🌟 Journey of Self Discovery – Session 2 Recap | 5th September.
Topic: Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People? (Part 2) – Is Our Destiny Already Written, or Do We Have Free Will to Shape Our Lives?
📍 Hare Krishna School, Auckland
In this session, we continued our exploration of the timeless question: Why do bad things happen to good people?
This time, we dived into the interplay between destiny and free will - two forces that shape the journey of every soul.
Drawing from the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, we reflected on:
✨ How past karma influences the circumstances we face today
✨ The extent of our free will in responding to life’s challenges
✨ Practical ways to use our choices to align with a higher purpose
The discussion reminded us that while we cannot always control what happens to us, we can always choose how to respond - and in that choice lies the power to transform our destiny.
📖 “Destiny sets the stage, but free will decides how we play our part.”
We also joyfully celebrated Father’s Day with our DYS family - a beautiful reminder of gratitude, love, and the bonds that guide us on our journey.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined with sincerity and openness. Your reflections made the session both enlightening and heartwarming.

Topic: Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People? (Part 1)
📍 Hare Krishna School, Auckland
In the last session, we began exploring a timeless question that touches every human heart: Why do bad things happen to good people?
Drawing from the Bhagavad Gita, we reflected on:
✨ Why suffering exists despite goodness and devotion
✨ How challenges can be seen as opportunities for spiritual growth
✨ Part 2 - The law of karma and its role in shaping our experiences

The discussion reminded us that while life’s difficulties may appear unfair, there is always a deeper spiritual perspective guiding us towards understanding, resilience, and ultimately liberation.
📖 “What appears as adversity can often be a hidden blessing on the path of self-realization.”

Gratitude to everyone who joined and shared their heartfelt reflections. Your questions and openness made the session deeply meaningful.
