New Zealanders are living longer than ever before. With the right age-friendly conditions in place, many seniors can continue to contribute, stay connected, support whānau and communities, and live well for longer in the places they call home.

In response to the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing which is currently underway, the Aotearoa New Zealand National Forum for the Decade of Healthy Ageing (which Haumaru Housing is a member of) is inviting New Zealanders aged 55+ to take part in a short survey. It asks how confident you feel about your future, what helps you stay active and involved, and what would make the biggest difference to ageing well where you live.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is totally confidential. You can fill it out here: https://ap1.hubs.ly/y0NSLr0.

Your input will help inform practical solutions across housing, health, work and community support, so seniors may be better supported to live healthy and connected lives.

We are delighted to share that our Facilities Management team have been chosen as finalists in the FMANZ - Facilities Management Association of New Zealand Awards for Facilities Management Team of the Year. The award recognises a team that has demonstrated exceptional performance, collaboration, and impact within the FM profession. This award celebrates groups of professionals who bring together a strong collective depth of experience, typically spanning several years across a range of FM functions, to deliver outstanding results for their organisation or clients.

This is very well deserved recognition of the awesome work this team do every day to improve the homes of all our tenants. Congratulations Haumaru Facilities Team!

The Haumaru Housing Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Olivia Poulsen as Chief Executive, effective 16 March 2026.

Ms Poulsen brings more than 20 years of senior leadership experience across the property, infrastructure and investment sectors. Most recently, as Chief Executive of Tupu Angitu (the commercial entity of the Lake Taupō Forest Trust), she led a diversified investment portfolio valued at over $500 million. She was also previously Executive General Manager Property at KiwiRail where she oversaw a nationwide property portfolio.

Haumaru Board Chair Adrienne Young-Cooper said this appointment comes at an important time, as Haumaru Housing continues to grow to meet the increasing demand for affordable, secure housing for older people across Auckland.

Ms Poulsen is pictured (centre) with members of the Haumaru Board at the mihi whakatau held to welcome her. We look forward to Olivia’s leadership, as we continue supporting older people into affordable rental homes across the communities we serve.
