On Sunday 5 April (Easter Sunday) Merge Community and Café, alongside mama hosted our first scavenger hunt where diverse central city families came and hunted up art in the park for easter eggs 🐣
It was a mad success, we had about 80 people come along, solved our scavenger hunt clues, claimed their easter surprises and stayed around for a sausage or two – proudly provided by 🙌🏽
We put out the mats, literally, people lounged on the lawn, sat in the courtyard and connected over teas, coffees and maybe a sneaky can of coke after they had hauled themselves up that hill. Rangitahi Mama also handed out cookies and invited people to come along to Rangitahi Mama sessions hosted at Myers Park Cottage.
People asked what was next up our sleeve because they enjoyed their time at the cottage so much. We’ve got our thinking caps on.
This event couldn’t have happened without help and support from so many people. Thanks a mil to Kelvin and Shane from Merge café for the sausages and manaaki, to Kyron, Sam, Sammy for setting up, packing up and doing what was needed, to little Sammy (one of our Merge regulars) for making gift bags of the easter eggs and being Easter Bunny for all our guests.
She also washed the floors, cleaned the bathroom and bagged up all the rubbish. And last but not least to Katee for sharing her funding to make this amazing event all that it was and for her, her husband and her beautiful dog for making the day.
