Celebrating a major milestone in rheumatic fever care.

Today we had the privilege of attending the launch of the Rheumatic Fever Care Coordination System (RFCCS) at Middlemore Hospital; a pathway to better support patients, whānau, and clinicians across Aotearoa.

What stood out? The unwavering focus on lived experience and keeping people at the centre of care. The stories shared reminded us: a diagnosis is not the end. Through education, trust, connection, and culturally responsive support, we can create better outcomes for whānau.

Prevention matters, especially for our Māori and Pacific communities.

Ngā mihi to everyone bringing passion and commitment to this kaupapa. Our IMPB looks forward to capturing more whānau voice to shape rheumatic fever prevention and management that works for our people.

Today we celebrate International Nurses Day; a day that exists because of Florence Nightingale and her pioneering legacy in nursing care.

We honour her memory and reflect on the incredible contribution nurses make to healthcare and our communities.

Our nurses are kaitiaki of whānau hauora; they embody manaakitanga, aroha, and unwavering dedication. They are living proof that kindness and strength reside in a single heart.

To every nurse in Tāmaki Makaurau and beyond; your dedication to our whānau doesn’t go unnoticed. Your care, your strength, your aroha: this is everything.

Kia kaha to all our nurses out there.

He hononga i tīmata mai i te mahi tahi.

Through our bowel screening collaboration with Counties Manukau, we had the privilege of connecting with Indigenous manuhiri visiting for World Indigenous Cancer Conference, and it was from that moment, an invitation was extended to host them at our local kura, Alfriston College.

We welcomed our manuhiri with a pōwhiri led by Te Kahikatoa kapa haka, creating a powerful space grounded in tikanga and manaakitanga. What followed was meaningful whakawhanaungatanga; sharing stories of identity, whakapapa lived experiences, and the important mahi they carry within their communities.

Our rangatahi had the opportunity to connect, listen, and be inspired; a reminder of the strength and unity across Indigenous peoples.

He wā whakahirahira.
He hononga ka mau tonu.

Dental health is a human right. Nearly half of our adults can’t afford the care they need, and it’s costing us billions in downstream health consequences. The good news? There’s a workable solution on the table. Check out the kōrero Hinekura had with Tuia 😇

Hauora Manawaroa | Ngaati Aamaru
From the World Indigenous Cancer Conference to Te Awamarahi Marae, Port Waikato; the mahi doesn’t stop, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙏🏽
Proud to be one of the providers showing up alongside whānau for Hauora Manawaroa — a day hosted by Ngaati Aamaru Katoa Trust centred around community, connection, resilience and wellbeing.
Guest speakers, cooking demos, kura waiata, prizes, giveaways, band exercise — they really did have it all. Hauora in its fullest sense.
A special mihi to our Chair Ngataki () for representing, to the paepae, kaumātua, kuia, and the tamariki from Te Kura Kaupapa o Te Puaha o Waikato for bringing such beautiful energy to the day.
And a huge acknowledgement to Hauora Lead Moana Brown and her whānau for co-ordinating such a successful kaupapa. 🙌🏽
Ngā mihi nui ki a and all who made the day what it was. 🤍
Mauri ora.

🌟 Our awhi blanket found its home.
At the World Indigenous Cancer Conference, we drew the winner of our awhi blanket — and the reaction said it all.
“𝓞.𝓶.𝓰!!!!! 𝓝𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓵𝔂 𝓯𝓮𝓵𝓵 𝓸𝓯 𝓶𝔂 𝓼𝓮𝓪𝓽!! 𝓚𝓪 𝓷𝓾𝓲 𝓽𝓮 𝓶𝓲𝓱𝓲 𝓶𝓸 𝓽𝓸 𝓽𝓪𝓸𝓷𝓰𝓪, 𝓘 𝓯𝓮𝓮𝓵 𝓼𝓸 𝓹𝓻𝓲𝓿𝓲𝓵𝓮𝓰𝓮𝓭… 𝔀𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓪 𝓫𝓮𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓲𝓯𝓾𝓵 𝔀𝓪𝔂 𝓽𝓸 𝔀𝓱𝓪𝓴𝓪𝓴𝓪𝓹𝓲 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓫𝓮𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓲𝓯𝓾𝓵 𝓴𝓪𝓾𝓹𝓪𝓹𝓪.”
Congratulations Zalene Awatere Joe Taylor — still buzzing, and so are we. 🧡
This small gesture carries a whole lot of aroha, and we’re so glad it landed with someone who felt every bit of it.
And to everyone who came into our space across the week to kōrero and enter — ngā mihi nui. Your energy and connection made it everything. 🙏🏽
Ngā mihi aroha ki a koutou katoa. 🤍
