⚠️ PARENTS: STOP BEING BULLIED INTO PAYING PRIVATELY FOR COURT-ORDERED SUPERVISED CONTACT.

We are hearing from parents who say they are being pressured by the Ministry of Justice NZ Ministry of Justice, Family Court judges and lawyers to personally fund supervised contact with their own children and paying thousands of dollars to see their children.

THIS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU SHOULD ACCEPT.

If the Court imposed professional supervised contact, particularly through a without-notice process before you had a proper opportunity to challenge the allegations, demand to know why Ministry-funded supervision is not being provided before paying a cent privately. Section 62 of the Care of Children is very clear.

Paul Goldsmith — ARE YOU CUTTING JUSTICE COSTS AT THE EXPENSE OF FAMILIES AND CHILDREN RELATIONSHIPS? Why not give parents the opporunity to have a quick hearing to challenge the evidence and prove that they do not pose any harm or risk to their children ? Instead make them wait for 2-3 years in supervised contact and ask them to pay for it ? Seriously ?

The Family Court is supposed to protect and strengthen children's relationships with their parents, not create a financial barrier that prevents contact.

They imposed the restriction. Make them justify the cost. DON’T JUST PAY. ⚠️

$310 FOR A 40-MINUTE ZOOM CALL WITH YOUR OWN KID. SERIOUSLY, NEW ZEALAND?

We’ve received anon message from a parent facing the eye-watering cost of supervised contact.

$310. For 40 minutes. On Zoom.

This parent says the service was provided through KidzKare supervised contact by Kids Need Dads New Zealand . And where organisations providing these services operate for charitable or community purposes, the public deserves transparency about what is publicly funded, what parents are being charged for, and why.

This is THEFT !!! Government lawful extortion 😡

We’ll say it bluntly: how the hell has maintaining a parent-child relationship become this expensive?

Supervised contact is imposed as a precautionary safety measure while allegations or concerns are being assessed. It is not necessarily a finding that a parent has harmed their child.

And Parliament clearly contemplated public funding for formal Court-ordered supervised contact. Section 62 of the Care of Children Act 2004 specifically supervised contact to be “funded out of public money”.

So here’s the question for the New Zealand Government and Ministry of Justice:

Why should a parent who has been ordered into formal supervised contact potentially face hundreds of dollars just to spend less than an hour with their own child ?????? - especially where supervision is precautionary and there has been no final finding against them? Ministry of Justice NZ and Paul Goldsmith needs to answer this. They are forcing parents into supervised contact as precautionary then asking them to pay for it ??

It is about asking why access between a child and their parent can become financially impossible.

A child’s relationship with a parent should not become something only wealthy parents can afford. thats disgusting 🤮

$310 for 40 minutes on Zoom? Come on, New Zealand. We can do better than this.

This is bloody disgraceful.

How many Kiwi families have to be ripped apart before someone in Wellington actually gives a damn?

How many kids have to be caught in years of conflict? How many mums and dads have to be financially and emotionally smashed? How many people have to reach breaking point before our politicians stop talking and start fixing the bloody system?

These aren't numbers on a spreadsheet. They're Kiwis. They're our mates, our neighbours, our brothers, sisters, mums, dads and kids.

Sounds fimiliar ? Sure everyone knows one - Oh tell me about it .... too many of fake ones in the Family Court (Without notice applications hobbyists) .. The Family Court straightaway slaps them with the label "Victim" " before facts determined" - then good luck for them changing their mindset !! Poor kids - they learn the same behaviour. And the state loves "victims"
