We’d love you to be part of the Sunnynook Catchment PACT – a group of people working to make Sunnynook, Totara Vale, and Forrest Hill stronger, safer, and more connected.
What’s the PACT?
PACT stands for People, Action, Communication, and Trust. It’s a community recovery plan for the neighbourhoods across Sunnynook, Totara Vale, and Forrest Hill, created from your input through community events and surveys.
Highlighted are some of the key ideas gathered from the community.
Now comes the exciting part – bringing these ideas to life! We’re setting up a core implementation working group, and we’d love to have you on it. The first meeting will be 28 October, facilitated by Cissy Rock from Community Think, to get things rolling.
Why join?
By joining the PACT, you can:
Connect with neighbours and meet new people in your community
Shape projects and initiatives that really matter locally
See your ideas put into action to make neighbourhoods better places to live
There are lots of ways to be involved, depending on what excites you. For example, you might want to:
Be part of our Hiya Happenings – street afternoon teas and neighbourhood packs
Help coordinate disaster readiness workshops
Support local communication channels
Plan community clean-ups or native planting
Organise community dinners and storytelling events
Who can join?
Anyone who lives, works, or spends time in Sunnynook, Totara Vale, or Forrest Hill is welcome no prior experience needed!
What’s involved?
The core group will meet roughly once a month, with opportunities to get involved in specific projects that fit your time and skills. Even small contributions, like sharing ideas or helping with an event, make a difference.
First PACT core group meeting
We’re kicking things off with the first core group meeting:
Date: Tuesday, 28 October
Time: 6:30pm
Location: Sunnynook Community Centre
At the first core group meeting, we’ll go through the full plan together and work out roles, responsibilities, and how you want the group to function.
Please RSVP if you’d like to come along and join us. If you know someone else who would be awesome in this core group, share this invite and ask them to express their interest to me [email protected]. If you have any questions before the meeting, feel free to email me!
Let’s work together to make the neighbourhoods more connected, prepared, trusted, and resilient. Your energy and ideas can make a real difference. We can't wait to see what can be achieved by working together!
