MEDIA RELEASE

For Immediate Release:

20 January 2023

PASIFIKA VOICES AIMS TO PROMOTE OUR PACIFIC LANGUAGES.

This is a callout to all Pacific church choirs, youth groups, community choirs near and far! It is finally time now for one stage to converge our love for collective singing and promote our inimitable Pacific languages.

In the lead up to our annual at Western Springs, this will be a wonderful musical side-event promoting community development, retention of our languages and choral music.

Each participating choir will perform a repertoire of two choice pieces, both under 5 minutes. The first must be in a Pacific language including Te Reo Māori and the second will be an arrangement of a common or popular English hymn/Sabbath/Sunday School Song/Praise or Worship Gospel piece like ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘How Great Thou Art’, perhaps Kirk Franklin or Bill Gaither.

Overall, GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE awards will be allocated with special prizes and guest performances. Look out for registrations, choir master/director meetings and more with our social media

Fa’afetai tele lava,
Felicia Muliaina (Director)
