📰Cambodia Chamber of Commerce Registers in Auckland, Strengthening Trade Links with New Zealand
— The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce has officially registered its representative office in New Zealand under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, marking a milestone in efforts to deepen bilateral trade and economic diplomacy.
The registration, finalized on May 5, followed Cambodia’s recognition of the office’s president and members for their first mandate in Auckland. Officials said the process was completed in line with New Zealand law, reflecting strong cooperation between the two countries.
The achievement was credited to the leadership of Michael Kuoy, with support from Dr. Thach Kao, Delegate of the Royal Government and Chief Executive Officer of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank.
The establishment is a key milestone as an important step in expanding Cambodia’s international economic cooperation and trade outreach, in line with the government’s strategy to promote growth and strengthen global partnerships.
The Auckland office is expected to act as a bridge for investors and businesses in both countries, particularly in agriculture, trade, technology and manufacturing. It will facilitate partnerships, investment opportunities and commercial cooperation between Cambodian and New Zealand enterprises.
The move comes as Cambodia intensifies trade diplomacy with both New Zealand and Australia. During recent high‑level visits, Phnom Penh and Wellington pledged to expand economic ties under ASEAN–Australia–New Zealand frameworks, with New Zealand providing mine clearance assistance and education scholarships.
Australia, meanwhile, reaffirmed its role as a major partner, with bilateral trade reaching nearly US$600 million in 2024 and growing investment in renewable energy, agro‑industry and infrastructure.
Cambodian afficials said the Auckland office complements Cambodia’s broader push to strengthen regional and global partnerships, positioning the country as an active player in Asia–Pacific economic integration.
